Since the latest software update I am no longer getting message notification from my iPhone. Anyone else have these issues and how did you resolve them.

Software updates tend to alter some of the iDrive settings back to factory status. The last one I did reset the long press of the voice activation button for Siri, and I needed to re-do that setting. Check all your iDrive settings to make sure there's not one for messages that went back to factory status.

I needed to allow 'Show Message Notification' whilst connected via Bluetooth on the iPhone.
