My wife leased a 2020 BMW X3 when we lived on Long Island. Her lease payments were $594 per month. We relocated to Texas in April, 2021. Shortly thereafter we went to the local BMW since her lease was about to expire. Because of the pandemic the cost to lease a new X3, with the same equipment, was $935!!!. She ended up leasing a Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy. It was a great car and had many safety features that exceeded what BMW offers. I could tell that my wife was a bit disappointed coming from a BMW to a Hyundai. Afterall, she is a BMW girl. The Santa Fe lease was to end in April, 2025. I already had built a 2025 X1 28i for her and was going to order it around Christmas. But that was not to be. Last month, while dining at a restaurant, I noticed a car heading towards the place where we were sitting inside. I pushed my wife away from the window thinking the car was going to hit the building. The car hit a trash can, a bench and unfortunately my wife's Santa Fe. The side of the car was damaged but since I had parked with the wheels turned to the left the wheel was hit causing damage to the suspension. Because of that, the damage was so severe the Insurance company declared the car a total loss. Now what? I knew it would be ten to twelve weeks to order a new one and I did not want to rent a vehicle for that long. Since my wife had her heart set on the Cape York Green exterior with the Oyster interior my internet search began. In some sort of divine intervention I found one that was 90% optioned the way I had built it! The only difference was the interior trim and the lack of the HK sound system. The down side was that it was at a dealership that I did not want to do business with. I went to my dealership who was able to work out a trade. The day after I had to return the rental car, that the Insurance company provided, we picked up the new X1. Under the circumstances it could not have worked out any better. The look on my wife's face when we picked up the car was priceless. All my hard work was rewarded. So here I am happy to be here.
