Does Anyone Really Like Their X1?
I’ve had many BMW 3 series but in 2016 I went for the new X1 m sport, which I actually loved, surprisingly . In 2019 out of laziness I got another one, different color. I eagerly awaited the newest model, test drove a few times and was ready to get another 28i msport but reading the posts here and responses it just seems riddled with annoyances and problems despite the big improvement in design. Do owners/lessees like this car or not? The more I read the more the scale tips towards the negatives outweighing the positives.

I’m enjoying my 2023 x1 msport! It’s comfortable, roomy, handles well and has enough power as my hauler / winter beater (my dd is a M2)… I’ve had no id8 issues (rarely change my settings or play with the apps) and drive in sport mode so no auto start stop delay (my first dct)

I love my 2023 X1. As said in the other post, haven't really had any significant issues with infotainment(8). Every software is bound to have issues at some point and it is no worse than other good cars out there.
As for start/stop and hesitation to launch, it exists. But Car is just like a good life partner, she has some habits that you may not like but it is not tough to get used to. I mostly drive suburban and town roads, and rarely have the hesitation issue. You just have to alter your driving style slightly. It is peppy, spacious for its class, excellent mileage for a non-hybrid car, does what you want it to do. if it ain't stiff, what's the point of BMW. At end of the day, just like finding a partner, you are the best judge of whether you pros outweighs the cons and if you can make it work. |

Most posts in any car forum deal with issues. Have not seen any forum that contains nothing but positive comments. To answer your question—Yes.

Coming from a 2014 X1 (picked up new from Munich) we are very pleased with the 2024 X1.

We love our 30e M Sport.
As mentioned above - car forums are full of complaints and niggles. It doesn't represent the typical owner. They tend to just drive the car, not scrutinise and analyse it, like forum members tend to. I would also say, this forum seems mostly very positive to me. Your best bet is to think what else you may buy, and head on over to that models forum and see what issues everyone is moaning about there. I am currently doing just that on the i4 M50 forum, as I'm getting one of those soon. |

I don't hate my X1, but I don't love it either. I just "like" it. After the initial new car feeling wore off, it's just convenient to me, but my preference has always been sports cars. It's a great car with a few minor annoyances that I've mostly gotten used to, but I'm not passionate about it. I'm leasing it, and have zero intention of buying it once the lease is over.

I quite like my 2024 X1x23d. It's so effortless with errands around town, easy to drive, turn, and park. My wife likes it a lot. I just had a rent Renault Arkona (same class) for a week on vacation, and it's so inferior compared to X1, it isn't even funny.
But do I love it? No, it's not an excited-teenager level of a car. It very quickly turned into a reliable horsie rather than a "proper" BMW. (I'm getting a 550e soon, so I'm that type of a guy) |

I like my 2023 30e Msport and have no issues with id8 but lack of idrive knob makes it hard to love
(19" runflat are also not perfect for everyday use) |

Got a 2025 M35 love it. Of course their are some complaints on the forum like any other forum. I do seem to use the touch screen more than I'd like to, but u get used to it. And you could always use vocie control. Like the power, steering and the looks and to boot I get decent mileage out of it. Yes I drive it somewhat slow most of the times.

Just fancy going fully electric. If there was an electric 3 series estate I’d have jumped at it. Don’t want to go any bigger, so it was a choice between the iX3 and the iX1. The 3 seemed a bit ‘low tech’ compared to the 1. I understand there’s a new version due in the next year or two, but for now the iX1 seem to suit what MrsO and I need.
I’m going to miss some of the toys on my 21 plate 330e though - it has a massive spec - all the options including the brilliant Merino leather seats and Laser lights. I’ll miss both of those. |

I'm definitely happy with this car, but I wouldn't say I "love" it, but I determined that this was the class of car I needed, and I really didn't like any other competitive vehicle, other than the Volvo XC40. I would happily gone with 330 to replace my 328, but a sedan just didn't fit my needs right now. |

Mines a company car, so opted for the X1 because of the bigger battery on the hybrid system. The 330e only offered around 28 miles on electric range at the time I had to order a motor, however come delivery time of my X1.. the 330e was offered with a similar sized battery as the X1, approx 50 miles. If that had have been available at the time i would have had a 330e in my garage now. I’m not ready for fully electric yet, I was tempted with the Polestar, but decided against it. I like the 2024 ICE version of the X1 28.
Though I wish it had a few feature/function available such as: 1 Ventilates front seated 2 Ability to touch rear doors to open all 4 doors 3 2nd led light in back storage area on drivers side. 4 A wireless chargers that truly charges. 5 Ability to drop rear seats by pushing 1 or 2 buttons, NOT small pulls 6 I Drive 9 system Glitches. Have to do a Hard Reset way to often & hope it resolves the continuous issues. 7 Not at all thrilled that BMW charges a subscription for features that are standard on some in it’s price range (such as driving assistance plus/advanced cruise control & some features within Digital Premium) What I do really like about it: HP & Torque (only 30 HP less than my Acura RDX that weights about 500 lbs. more) Turning Radius (very tight) Steering feel Ride quality with standard 18” tires - although stiff, I expected that would be so with the handling being so GOOD & its wheel base Navigation & Map (has many features my other vehicles don’t have) Brakes (stops faster & feels better than any of my prior vehicles) MPG- (Highway mileage in mid 40’s) Fuel tank distance. (Have gotten +500 thruway miles on a tank) Looks of X Line It’s Not a CVT transmission All 4 tires are the same size so they can all be rotated & are NOT run flats. iX1 owner here. There are definitely things I feel BMW could have improved on when designing / manufacturing this thing.
That said, I really like mine and don't really have anything else in mind for the price point (including up to +30% in price) for my family car. This things is really great |
