Speed warning

Anyone seen this speed warning or know what it is?
Started about a week ago.
As soon as i start driving i get this warning at the bottom right of the screen. As soon as i stop, it goes away. Then move off again and get the annoying beep and it displays again. It has nothing to do with the eu speed limiter legislation.
The car is booked in for its second service following the initial drive train error after 800 miles and it took them two days to reboot the system! So dealer may know but cant find anything in owners manual.

I am in the USA & I’ve never seen such a warning.

I’ve found by taking the following steps it gets rid if system wide glitches.
DO A “HARD RESET”
* START CAR & LEAVE IN PARK
* THEN PUSH & HOLDING DOWN THE CYLINDER VOLUME CONTROL ON CENTER CONSOLE UNTIL THE SCREEN CYCLES OFF & ON 2-3 TIMES BEFORE LETTING UP ON THE VOLUME CONTROL.

You should see a bunch of moving lines on the screen cycle off & on 2-3 times. This should take about 1 minute. Assuming what your getting us a software glitch, it should clear it out so it doesn’t come on.

Even if it works, you might want to keep your appointment with BMW so they can see if other errors are showing up within the system. GOOD LUCK 👍

Hi Ukfraser
This is a speed limiter setting and you just need to turn it off. Once you reach the set speed it brings this notification and produces a strong warning sound. I remember activating it (by setting it to 10 km/h) some time ago, thinking that its the allowance on top of speed limit detected by the car.

I have mine set to 80mph and almost never hear it since the fastest I can normally go here is 75mph. Yours is probably set to a low threshold and is easily triggered.

Thanks.
Interesting, the service dept said that they had started having people report this.
It was set @ 4mph so no wonder it was triggering. its now also set much higher.

I have mine set to 89mph. It goes off almost every time I get on the highway. Now that I own a BMW I know why people hate BMW drivers. I drive too fast now.
