Iconic sound on 2024 X1 28i

What does the iconic sound selection provide? I have turned it on and off but I don't notice anything. IDrive 9

My new x1 hasn't been delivered, but I believe its simply some artificial exhaust-engine type sounds piped into the cabin. My current 330, while nothing says "iconic" sounds, also has some piped in exhaust and engine sounds when in sport mode.

Exactly as Rayneman says. I tend to notice it more on engine startup, rather than driving around. Bit of a gimmick in my humble opinion.
