CAN-Bus - Help on Splitting Wires

I've ordered two items that need to be wired into the CAN-Bus. One is a CANchecked monitor. The other is a Motiv Reflex PI controller. For the monitor, the directions are to connect into the footwell module location. For Motiv, I was planning on purchasing a harness and going to the same footwell module. However, Motiv can also be connected directly in the engine bay DME with a flying lead.

If I want to run both into the footwell module, can someone provide guidance on how to easily combine/split these two items? The more plug-and-play the better. Thanks.

Assuming this is a G8X and not the X5M in your details (reading this from the G8X forum), you can follow the Awron instructions to access the FEM_Body module:

https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=2015232

You'll need to depin a couple of wires, usually we'll use BMW connectors or make our own splitters to keep from cutting wires. The Awron already has a splitter built into its harness. Be careful when using multiple CAN devices as it can cause issues if both are using the same address. If you experience trouble, one will need to go.

Thanks for the quick reply. Sorry, this is actually for my F31 (I posted this in the general BMW section, which I believe goes to all subforums).

Good to know about the possible issues. I haven't installed either, but the Motiv will certainly have priority if I run into issues.

Are you able to provide a link to where I can purchase these "BMW connectors" or splitters? I'm ignorant about wiring, and trying to get all of these parts ready for my installer/mechanic (they might have something like this in their shop already).

Thanks again!

For F-Chassis, you can use this guide to access the CAN wires.

Should be able to piece together your own splitter harness with a 2 of these of speaker Y connectors: https://www.ebay.com/itm/163944963791
