I need the truth!!
There's been so much debate about the 1 series coming to the US or not. Edmunds has this on their future vehicles site now:
What We Know: After much hemming and hawing and keeping a close eye on the competition, BMW has decided that it will, after all, bring its 1 Series to the American market. Helmut Panke, BMW's Chairman told Inside Line that the launch will coincide with the introduction of new bodystyles in the European market. He wouldn't confirm that it would be a sedan, but he did note American distaste for hatchbacks. Regardless of which bodystyle is used the 1 Series will be built on the same platform as the current 1 Series hatchback. It's expected that the U.S. version of this vehicle will be powered by a 2.5-liter inline six, which produces roughly 218 horsepower. With one of the longest wheelbases for its size, the 1 Series will probably sell for about $25,000. All-wheel drive could be featured on some variants, but it will not likely be available as a standard feature. what do you guys think? i bunch of bs?

I heard it was coming, but who knows I really like them. I got to actually sit in one while I was in Madrid. I would probably get one if they did.

if they do it'll have to end up priced in the high 20's, maybe even up to the mid 30's if they let us have a good engine and options
I'd have loved to buy a 1 instead of the 3, but here in the states, if we can get a bigger car for similar money we'll almost always get the bigger car give me a diesel 1 series for commuting!! |

The next or updated 1-series is supposed to be coming to the US and not necessarily as the hatchback form. The Audi A3 has been selling pretty well so it def. gives an incentive for BMW to bring some sort of competition. I would personally love a 130iM or 120D for a sweet DD.
