BMW Guidance voice comes from back speakers only

Hi everyone!

I recently got my first BMW, an X1 2025 with ID9, so I’m not very familiar with its systems. Everything was great for a week until today.

Suddenly, I encountered some unusual issues. First, the voice command stopped responding, and voice guidance was unavailable.

On my way back home, I managed to start the navigation, but there was no voice guidance even when the setting was enabled. I tried using voice commands to request voice guidance, but the voice only came from the back speakers (even though the sound settings were all centered).

Can anyone help me understand what’s happening and how I can resolve this issue?

Thank you for your answers and suggestions.

I suggest you try an iDrive reset by holding down the volume button for about 30 sec. You should try this while stationary as the displays will turn off for a few seconds.

Like already mentioned the ID9 is glitchy from time to time.
If the soft reset mentioned does not work, try a HARD RESET. The service managrr near me suggested it fixes nearly all issues.

WHEN GLITCHY ALWAYS DO A “HARD RESET”
* START CAR & LEAVE IN PARK
* THEN PUSH & HOLDING DOWN THE CYLINDER VOLUME CONTROL ON CENTER CONSOLE UNTIL THE SCREEN CYCLES OFF & ON 2-3 TIMES. You should see a bunch of moving lines on the screen cycle off & on 2-3 times. This should take about 1 minute.
Good luck 🤞🤞& enjoy your new ride.

Its a 90 second timer to do a hard reset, per the BMW Tech that services my vehicle. I’ve clocked it and confirmed this myself.

I typically throw a stop watch timer on during reset just so I know.

This worked! The on/off cycle on the screen was barely perceptible (only the driver cluster turned on with a small parking symbol on the bottom left. Leaving the button pressed for almost 2 minutes seemed to work. Now it works like before. I am new to BMW and I appreciate the suggestions. I didn’t know the system could be glitchy.

Thank you all for the responses.
