What to do in Orlando/Disney World

I am going to be in the Orlando/Disney World area next week for a seminar. None of my co-workers are going with me and not sure what kind of crowd will be in attendance (i.e. old people). Never been to Disney World. Is there any form of nightlife (decent bars) or is it just for families?

There's Downtown Disney right near Disney, but I don't know how great it is. You have to be 21 to get into the trance club on weekends so I couldn't go. There are plenty of clubs in the actual downtown Orlando area, and I've heard some are pretty nice. International Drive is a big tourist area. Lots of themed restaurants, minigolf, etc.

Yep downtown disney or specifically pleasure island has various F&B establishments. I'd recommend a car rental to get around.

car rental is crucial unless you plan on taking a cab everywhere or if your hotel offers a shuttle everywhere you want to go.

Downtown Disney is alright, They have a different bar for just about everything. Dance, Hip-Hop, 70/80's, Comedy Club.

Universal also has something like that called City Walk, and it is pretty cool. They have a lot of bars and stuff as well.

You will most defiantly need a car though. All the years I have been there, I've always had rental. Downtown Orlando is about 10 to 15 miles from the Kissimmee area which is where Disney and Universal are (and the convention center if that is where you are going). International Drive is nothing but a tourist trap and traffic. But thats were all the mini golf and stuff like that is and it's pretty fun.

Comedy Club in Pleasure Island is pretty good...especially since it is free...two drink minimum...go to Epcot and drink a different beer from every part of the world!

Forgot to mention that....you pay one cover and you get into all the bars/clubs. I forget what the cover is though...think it is like $20 or so.

No kidding. It makes Houston look like NYC.

I took my wife there last year (she likes these things) for our anniversary. The hotel we stayed at though was SWEEEET. It was Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge and we had a Safari view room. Basically, they have giraffes, gazelles, zebras, etc... right outside your window. The decor was really nice too.

I love Wilderness Lodges decor, and its outside is so nice. But we decided to go for the animals, that was a very unique experience. I might stay at WL next time when i have kids someday.

Funny thing is, AKL and WL are the best hotels, but the floridian is the most $$$. I went there and was not impressed at all.
