300w cigarette lighter inverter and BMW 530D F10
I’ll be getting a BMW 530D F10 2011 very soon and as I’m a DJ I’m looking to run it as a portable DJ station as I want to pull up in random places/ fields and stick on the decks, have a mix and livestream it. I’m quite new to cars so far from understanding all the bits about it I’m quite techy but clueless tbh when coming to cars and stuff I was wondering if running a 300w pure sine wave inverter from the cigarette lighter would be too much I’m unlikely to be pulling a full 300w draw but like the idea of having that little bit of breathing room there for different applications and also not working the inverter to its full capacity I was wondering is 300w (in its highest use scenario) would be too much to draw from the cigarette lighter or not?? Don’t want to damage anything but it’s a big goal of mine which I wish to realise. The equipment I’d be running is a Pioneer XZ decks and probably just run it through the car speakers at first but may expand to having two Yamaha HS8 speakers that I have as well. Any advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated as I’ve tried look through the manual I found online but can’t find the section listing the max power draw through the cigarette lighter??

the fuse to cig lighter was 5amps earlier and now can be up to 20 amps
that means 240w max so it is better to check its nominal and calculate what maximum fuse you can install if you will be doing activity from trunk, then you can run direct wires to battery

So if I’m understanding that correct it comes factory with a 5 amp fuse but I can upgrade it to a 20Amp fuse correct? Also if I do this would I need to change any wiring to anything to a thicker awg at all or will everything stick be able to handle this? Sorry for my lack of understanding as I think I said previously I’m very new to this 😅

A 5A to a 20A fuse is a huge jump in current load over the same wire. Unless I can trace every bit of that circuit to ensure it can handle 20A, I wouldn't do it. To me this is just playing with fire...figuratively and literally.

i've checked the diagrams, you should have already 20amps fuse for main socket
and 15amp fuse for other sockets
