Known software defects
Hello everyone. Can we start a consolidated thread on known software defects or strange behaviors?
I have a 2025 X3 with iDrive 9 and see the following: 1. Car started itself when walking away. No clear reason. 2. Infotainment / Meter dont seem to shut off when doors open despite the setting. I find the behavior erratic. Sometimes works sometimes doesnt, but it does shut off when the door is closed and the keyfob is out of range. 3. Hands free call doesnt transfer to the phone properly when key-off, door open so part of the call is missed. See #2 4. Horn beeps when walking away from the car when its running. No option to disable. Why not use the chime vs the horn? Its disruptive to neighbors when loading kids etc in the morning. 5. I somehow came back to one window down. Not sure how. Others? |

Sounds more like hardware than software to me. Have you tried switching fobs for daily use?

![]() My 2020 G30 will do this horn blast if you lock it with the engine running to let you know it is running... Either way, you can see via Google it is a thing across brands. https://www.google.com/search?q=car+...ine+running+us |

If I... - park my car in my garage - get out and walk away - return 30 minutes later (key in pcoket) - open the already unlocked passenger door - sit down without shutting the door - reach over and press START/STOP without touching any pedals - Do something, anything, for a few seconds - Press START/STOP to turn off the car - get out and shut the door - walk away... the car will leave its lights on until the battery goes to a low level, possibly beyond. I tested this overnight. The lights were still on the next morning. I assumed this was a bug in my 2016 software. Same behaviour when the car's i-step was updated by BMW in 2024. |

FYI, there is a G45 section of the forum, which is specific to the 2025 X3:

![]() ![]() ![]() It can be useful for those who don't know what they are doing: https://f20.1addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=831792; https://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1387628. ![]() It can be disabled via BimmerCode. ![]() Because you are outside and the car is closed/locked. ![]() Well, a truly weird new feature is sometimes dropping my frameless window(s) when the door(s) is(/are) opened halfway instead of just a little, as usual. ![]() |
