Exclamation New Corvette ZR1 Tested by C&D: 0-60/2.2s, 1/4m/9.5s@150mph

Ladies and Gentlemen....

Introducing America's readily available and relatively affordable "Hypercar"!

Absolutely BONKERS!!! Worth every Nickel of it's $175k.
I will seriously consider grabbing one of these. Someway, somehow.

Awesome car. Looks like the engine is well engineered.

Still not as fast in the 1/4 as a ZX-14 at over 10x the price and not as fun as any fast bike. And the bike is about as practical. The bike also costs a whole lot less to insure, operate and maintain. And what's that stupid thing hanging off the rear end?

Amazing performance. Just incredible. Kudos to Chevrolet for making a domestic supercar.

If you get one and take it in for service at your local Chevrolet dealer... don't let it out of your sight.

Very cool, thanks for sharing.

Why are you comparing ZR1 to ZX-14, becasue they both got "Z" in the name..?
In this case, the Tesla Model S Plaid is more practical and it runs the 1/4 mile in 9.2 seconds and can be found used in the $40K range.

lol - good post. I guess the ZR1 is safer in a wreck at any speed? Also, dryer in the rain. It also maxes out at 230+ mph. ??

Maybe we could compare throwing oneself off a cliff to a ZR1 too?

Cool car. Thanks for sharing. Glad there's an American supercar again.

To the posters comparing a bike and a toaster oven to this wonderful bit of automotive engineering... Who cares?

Bingo, this is exactly why I no longer care about straight line speed. Just get a Plaid.

Fantastic car with a great price tag for what you get. Glad it's not my style so I don't have to pay $50K over list.

I see people on FB asking $350k for these. lol ok!

My first thought was it doesn’t sound nearly as good as the Z06.

Awesome. Never was a fan of American cars or the Corvette ever until the C8 came out.

Cool car, glad they built it, but nowhere close to "Hypercal Slayer".
Weight at 3,831 pounds, or ~+300 lbs on Stingray?
Also, $175K puts you in a pretty interesting competitive bracket.

As others mentioned - cool and fast cat, almost Tesla Plaid fast, but not quite.
BTW, brand new Model S Plaid is very reasonable $79,990 right now. And has room for luggage and +4 passengers (or track tires).

Interesting that you mention that. I always loved Corvettes...until I drove one. The early ones have no ergonomics, the mid ones have no power and feel very disconnected, and the later ones are animals that drive you instead of you driving them. Great performance for the price though.

Anyone pays over is a moron. Sit back and wait a bit and they will be on lots just like the Z06. Or, buy one after the new owner wrecks it. I feel there will be a TON of those around!!!!!!!
