BMW's most succesful engine
As the name suggests what is BMW's most succesful engine they have ever made? I know there is alot of hype about the N54 and it has won numerous awards but is there any other succesful engine that BMW is renowned for?

FYI - if you're a reader, here is a set of books from BMW Dimensions that covers the history of their engines up to about 2000 or so: http://www.autobookworld.com/shopexd.asp?id=2350
PS - I found a set cheaper than the listed reference. They're now on the bookshelf. ; -) |

Perhaps the M50? It is my favorite at least because it spawned so many awesome engines...leading to the S54B30.
If not that, then perhaps the P86/9. If not that then the S70/2. Last edited by vgame64; 02-06-2009 at 07:36 PM.. |

It just sounds sooo good. Maybe the V8 is more efficient, idc. This engine just sounds so unique.
