HELP: Need To Unlock a BlackBerry Curve 8330
Edit: Mods Please Move to Correct Section.
HELP: Need To Unlock a BlackBerry Curve 8330 Hey guys i know there's someone on this forum that can help me out with this tech problem or at least lead me in the right direction. There's soo many helpful members on this forum. Here's my situation: Last night my girlfriend's father passed away very suddenly due to a massive heartattack. Now we're here trying to get in touch with friends, family, and important people but we don't have any contact numbers. All of his phone number are in his phone. His Phone is locked and we do not have the password. We've tried all typical passwords such as the "0000", The last four digits of the phone number, the last four digits of his social, home address, ETC. We've tried so many incorrect passwords now when you try to enter a password it says "This is you last attempt! One more incorrect attempt and all data will be erased!" The phone is from Sprint so therefore there is no SIM card. We already tried going to the Sprint store and explaining to them the situation with hopes someone there could bypasss the password and get us to the contacts or even give us a printout. They were no help and said that there isn't anything they can do to get in the phone. I really find that hard to believe. People hack iPhones and make them usable for Tmobile. . . I don't believe there isn't someone that can get around the phones password lock. Thanks in advance for your help or suggestions guys! -Paul |

i did some research just now and came across this:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...-i-unlock.html no good new though, someone on there said: No, there is no way to recover it. Your only choice is to let it fail 10 times and it will erase your data. Then restore it from your last backup. ehh..i dont know man..

Paul I'm sorry to hear about your girlfriends father.
I'd sync the phone to a computer asap though in case it does get erased. Just to have the info

Oh Sorry about the death, didn't read properly at first.
This just sucks, any person with a heart at Sprint or RIM would have sympathized with this. |

I'm sorry for your guys' loss Paul. All I can think of, because I got an 8330 but Verizon is that you can hook it up to the computer and turn on BlackBerry Desktop Manager and you can back it up which includes everything on the phone. Then from there, if it does get erased you can always have that backup on your computer. There is also the phonebook file which is like Vcards or whatever. If not go to Crackberry.com, make an SN and ask your question if not, you can use mine. I can PM you it if you want just PM me and tell me.
Hope you get it resolved and again, sorry for your guys' loss Paul.

Sorry about the loss
Sometimes a low tech solution is better than a high tech one Call some family members and get a phone list from them You can also dig through old phone bill statements and call the most frequently dialed numbers and ask around who picks up All you'll need is a few contacts who can get you in touch with other contacts I had to deal with my uncles death last year and I sorta went through the same thing and only until I went through his stuff was I able to get info out to people The phone companies or most other companies will be of no help due to privacy act clauses. Just think about it. Anyone can claim what you have and until you get legal paperwork in order you might as well forget about it Pm me if you need some help or the next steps to do. I imagine the mother is gone or not around or she would have helped |

sorry, no way to get into it without a password. The device was designed for security in a corporate environment.
you wont be able to sync it to the desktop without a password either. the only option is if the blackberry was on a corporate Blackberry Enterprise Server. if it was a company issued device, they can send an OTA password reset. if its a corp device, you would probably need to do alot of finagling or social engineering to get the IT people to send a password reset. It can only be done by the company that the blackberry is enterprise activated with, not by the carrier (sprint in this case) if its a stand alone blackberry on a BIS, sorry, there's no way. and if you enter one more wrong password, all the data on the device will be gone, forever.

Depending on how familiar their IT people are with blackberries, they should know how to do this, but just in case..... their IT people need to go into the blackberry manager console. if its a 4.1.X BES, right click on the user, then choose "Set Password and Lock Handheld" it may take anywhere from 0 to 5 minutes for the blackberry to get the password reset. the blackberry will pop up a screen asking if you want to accept the OTA password. yes. then you should be able to get into the blackberry, IIRC, this will also reset the failed attempts counter.
