I don't think there is anything to be ashamed about. Over 13 million people play regularly.

as an ex-Everquest addict I picked up WoW and enjoyed it quite a lot.

although, I always said that once it became like a job (since i had played EQ to near obsessive levels), I would quit it.

So, I played a priest to lvl 60 (Shadow priest before they were nerfed to shit). One day after I logged on my guild was planning a raid on some dragon the next day.

I get a message from a guildy (not an old schooler like the guys I started the guild with, but a newer member with more raid aspirations that had gained a lot of respect within the guild) who asked If I would be on for the raid the next night.

My Reply "I have to work until about 7, will want to eat dinner and will be on about 8:30pm. I'll catch up to you guys then"

his response, after about 15 seconds of deliberation...

"Can you make that a little bit sooner?"

And that was that. Time to quit. As a member of a high end raiding guild in Everquest I know all too much about the immense waiting, getting screamed at by 13 year olds (or people acting like them becuase I didn't go the right direction when the F*^#tard said "Follow me" then ran off in a direction 48.5 degrees away from where 99.9% of the raid was looking), and all the rest of the absolute worst aspects of MMORPG's.

I didn't log on at all the next night. That weekend I logged in, took a few of my favorite Griffin rides, said goodbye to a few close friends, and then logged out forever... and don't regret it in the slightest.

It's a great game, but don't get too into it. 5 years from now no one will care about how much loot you were able to amass, or how many hp's your avatar had.

Took a priest to 70 last year. I've been considering picking it up again, but I'm not sure I want to start all over again.

Shadow priests got nerfed? Figures, it was (imo) the funnest class to play.

Have an 80 hateful gladiator/deadly gladiator mage, 730+ resil, 19K HP, 18K MP

I play MAYBE once every other day, for an hour max. I do NOT raid, (I can't stand it). I play extremely casually.

Started back up a few months ago, right before the expansion. Got my priest up to 80. Raided for a bit, got all epics... and now I'm bored.
I played a dk for a while, got him to 71 and I'm still bored with the game.
I hate to leave my friends again but I'm just not that into spending my time in wow.
Once you accomplish what you set out to do, what else is there in the game? Dailys are boring and you can only level so many times.

In roughly one month they are releasing a huge content patch.

Thanks for the offer but I don't think another char will get me interested in the game. Plus, the only thing I like anymore is that I play with friends on my server.
I might just stop playing all together soon. Other things going on right now which may not leave time for WoW.

That's fine man. Nobody says you have to play the game all day, 24/7 anyway. Just play it when you are bored. And if you don't even like the game anyway, just tell your friends you have other priorities.

i had logged 178 days played time over 2 1/2 years through residency. i made a lot of friends in there and some who i really miss. i stopped cold turkey and have been WOW sober for almost 10 months now. i cannot tell you how much of a relief it is to be out and about again. i will never log back in. i know if i do, im done for.

4 lvl 70's all in end gear epics. never stepped foot in WotLK. my favorite was tanking. i really do wish i got a shot to try out the new changes that were made, but i refuse to do it.

its just like crack that game.

I find it funny, people like you impose this stigma on the game that it's crack...when it really is the individual who is the problem. I have the game and play it every now and then, and am nowhere NEAR addicted to it. It's usually out of pure boredom when I do play it.

It helps that I don't raid, and refuse to. That limits your playtime drastically, because PvP is designed so you can do it whenever you please, and however long you please.

cant say that just because you pvp that countless hours cant be spent and doesnt have the draw. before the system in tBC was put in place, non raiders would spend the same amount of time, if not more trying to make the weeks high point list for the pvp gear. on my original server, my guild ( now many times defunct like most old world raid guilds ) virakar, not only had AQ and naxx farming, but separate guys who were pvp'ing just as much as we raided.

so just cause you dont raid, please dont assume you have a pally bubble to make you impervious to the black hole of warcraft. while yes it has alot to do with the person, once you are in it full time, it can be very hard to break out of.

I'm not denying that fact that the game is designed to make you addicted. That's exactly what Blizzard wants. I'm just giving my personal point of view that it is possible to play casually and still enjoy the game.
