Cadillac prices, SHOCKED!!!
i walked by a cadillac XLR roadster last night and knew nothing about it so i decided to look it up. i could NOT believe the price tags they put on those cars. the cheapest cadillac (CTS) starts at $27k and a freaking XLR-V roadster starts at whopping $100,000!!!! for what???? wtf??? holy shit, i am seriously shocked!
are those cars really worth the money??? i mean, if someone gave me a choice of the new M6 or the XLR-V, i would just laugh, spit on the cadillac and get the M6 in a blink of an eye.

that's what i'm saying. this makes me wonder, what happens after the generation that now says "i've always wanted a cadillac" is gone?
also, i would like to see the idiot who would get this cadillac over a 911 Carrera 4S cabrio.

wellllll. it says the xlr-vvvvvvvv starts at 100k. yes, 100k is a lot. but its silly to take the top of the line caddy, with the beast motor, and tons of standard options and say it STARTS at that price. im sure you can get an SLR with less options for significantly less.
also, you compare the cheapest caddy (cts) with nooooo options and the smallest motor at 27k, to the most expensive caddy at 100k. look at the CTS-V. thats like a 50k car or something. and its a beast. i agree with you that i would NEVER spend the money on a caddy over a BMW or Benz, but they have their little niche. and i dont think their cars are THAT crazy over priced. i mean, 443 horsepower. which BMW has 443 Horses and how much are those?

BMW's M5 and M6 both boast 500 HP. MSRP at $81,200.
M6 MSRP at $96,100. The caddy however boasts 30 lb-ft torque more over both the M's.

There's a sucker born every minute.
So, I'm sure there is a market for this car. Imagine the depreciation that this car would take in the first few years, not to mention all the trips to the dealership for reliability problems in the future. Anyone who buys a Cadillact for that kind of money should have their heads examined. |

The new gen caddies are not half bad, not yet there with the competition but competitive in certain areas, suchas suspension, engine.
However, caddy blew the pricing strategy, they priced their cars too aggressively close to the competition. They should have adopted an Audian approach, make excellent cars, price them at a slight discount to market, get sales traction and then word of mouth good reports and the 2nd gen cars can beginn to close both the quality and price gap. Thia how Audi build its case in Europe20 years ago and here 10 years ago. Now Audi is fully premium in Europe and getting to tier one status in NA. Caddy should do the same, because at their current prices, too manny people (myself included) are passing them up. |

What american made car have you ever known to sell at MSRP? You'd have to be a serious tard to pay full price. That being said, I've seen two XLR-Vs around town being driven by older women. Maybe concidently, the only 6 series cars I've seen around have been convertibles driven by .... older women.
The CTS-V is priced perfectly IMO, and I almost bought one. It handles pretty decently if the only test you give is smooth freeway on-ramps, aka 'american race track'. It's the american version of the super sedan and it undercuts the 540i, Jag S-type R, A6 4.2 etc which I think was it's target. I don't think they really had the M5 in mind, or if they did the old M5, when they dreamed it up. The XLR-V is a strange one though. 100K?!? My only thought is that they're trying to make sure not to cut into any of the Corvette range sales. |

Why are you all so worried about what Cadillac is doing? Personally, I wouldn't use one as a boat anchor but there is nothing wrong with making them available for sale.
Some people wouldn't be seen dead in a 3 series
