Turned my JB+ up to 100% and installed my new Injen Intake
So I installed my new Injen Intake and Turned my JB+ up to 100% yesterday. I put 20 miles on the car so far, and did some WOT runs and really don't see any difference. I knew from the get go the intake was just for cosmetic purposes, but I expected the 100% dial would wake the car up a bit. Don't get me wrong, the JB+ is one hell of a deal, but it looks like I will have to upgrade.
How hard is the JB3 install?

I took out my JB3 to try out the JB+. I previously had a JB2.
I would compare the JB+ to the JB2...which was awesome by comparison to stock. However, I, too, have my boost at max with DCI's, and there is no comparison to the JB3. Map 3 kills the JB+, while Map 6...well....there is just simply no comparison. What I will say for the JB+ is this: The power distribution is more linear throughout the entire RPM range and all gears. It's just smoother. You can actually use first gear. With the 3, DTC is fighting back before you even get to WOT in gears 1-3. DTC hasn't kicked in at all with the JB+. All that said, the JB+ is a great deal for the money and the install is pretty simple. The JB3 is more difficult, but only because you have to get to the ECU. Once you've done it a few times, a 60 minute job becomes a 5-10 minute job. I'm switching back to the JB3, but only because I'm spoiled. If I had never had it, I would think the JB+ was the ever-loving bomb.

The only thing I don't like about these cars is how sluggish they feel when your in normal D mode. I would assume the JB3 has a map that increases low end torque?
And besides looks, the Injen is much louder than my Logic intake.

Interesting that you drive a $50k tuned BMW 335i in high school. Wow...so much for this deep recession; what recession? And, so much for working hard to earn yourself a nice car. If you bought that car with your own hard-earned $$, then I apologize; otherwise, you should be licking the dirt off your parents shoes.

That's interesting. I have the Injen too, but have never heard other intakes for comparisons sake.

Maybe you should turn the setting on the JB+ down a little?
Sometimes less is more. The JB+ preliminary dynos showed the JB+ @ default making more gains than the JB+ @ 3/4 setting when using 91 octane. The preliminary dynos also showed 20RWHP gains @ 3/4 setting from just going from 91 octane to 93 octane.

I would appreciate if you don't pass judgment if you don't know me. Thanks.

Don't worry I get it all the time. It doesn't bother me anymore, it's just jealousy. If I am loaded and drive around in a Veyron when I am a parent, I'll be sure to put my son in an M5 (or whatever is going to be around in 20yrs that is similar). I will not be greedy and keep it all for myself. That is...if he deserves it. |

You used to be a really good guy...why you bother making such statements? I wish my parents would have me an M3 E36 bought right after I had my High School finished. I'm jealous of this guy (in a good manner of course) Quote:

I would've licked the dirt of my parents shoe if they gotten me a M3 in high or 335.. Shit~~...I would be jealous..Def not hating tho.I was happy with my maxima in HS LOL.
No problem with that i think. If parents are rich and wants to buy there kids good cars thats totally fine. Back on topic. Didnt try jb+ but i tried SSTT and JB3. JB3 and SSTT is two differnt league. Installation for the JB3 will take 1hr double triple checking all wires the first time and would be 30min ish after that. Thats for the pin out version. Plug and play should take like 15min tops since you dont need to take each pins out and tape them with jb3 etc. Getting to the ECU box could take 15min or more the first time but should be faster after a few times. Check out the pin out jb3 video on youtube it shows you everything straight out. I used that and the pdf instructions they have on there website and it was really easy even for a beginner like me. |

hmmm....so, to all the "young people who have BMWs" haters.....you really need to shelve that attitude. Whether they are 15, 17 or whatever, who cares? This forum is not supposed to discriminate against people who are younger and are fortunate enough to enjoy life's luxuries at a young age. If he was acting arrogant, then it would be fine to keep him in check, but he's just asking questions and sharing his experiences - WHICH IS WHAT FORUMS ARE FOR.

FYI, the recession doesn't effect everyone.

To the OP: Why not install a boost gauge so you can see if there is a difference instead of trying to feel one? These cars can be a little deceptive.
