RULES
-Any interpretation of the theme that falls within Bimmerpost.com rules is welcome.
-You must be the person that took the photo. Previous photos are acceptable as long as you are the one that captured the image.
-One submission per contest.
-Images must be no larger than 800px in any direction. Links to larger images are allowed but you must have one that is under 800px for the poll.
-All contestants must host their own pictures.
-All pictures must have a title.
-While post processing in Photoshop is allowed, adding or removing parts of the picture is not. In the event a photo is suspected to be "photochopped," the contestant will be asked to provide the original picture.


To be clear, to qualify for the contest this month, your photo must have a shutter speed >=2 seconds, time to get your tripods out

Important dates and poll info:Entries must be submitted to this thread no later than Sunday, April 19th at 2AM EST.

The poll will start on either the following day, April 20th. As soon as I have some time I will post up the poll.

Greater than 2 seconds, eh? Rats, that cuts out my moon pics. Guess it's time to shoot something new.

April 26th? I think that's a little too long man. In the past most gave about 2 weeks (3 is the max if you must) but you're giving it almost a month just to take a picture. Of course you have the final say but IMO that's a little long. If you add a week for voting we're looking at almost 5 weeks for the contest. I would just make it 2 weeks just because there might be those that don't like the theme and are looking forward to the next one. My $.02.

PS- usually pictures are submitted within about 10 days so the rest of the time people are just waiting for the poll to start.

gives 3 weeks for pics, and 1 week for poll...

I figure its a tough topic, I have to go out and start shooting myself, nothing saved up...but I wanted to try to make the pics this month fresh, instead of just looking through my collection, I want a challenge

Wow, finally a contest where I happen to have a few photos already captured! I'll try to get a few more, but for now, I have this one.

10 second exposure at f/9 (18-200 VR) on a Nikon D300 set to "LO 1" ISO (which should be 100....)

3 weeks for this one...I figure this is going to require some shooting for a lot of people, doubt too many have a lot of >2 sec shots laying around? and itll go through the end of april this way, it is after all, a monthly contest sethimus

The only reason I ask is, is this not a Photo contest or has is it become a Photoshop contest?

Its a bit like the photo of the engine of your car appearing through a see thru bonnet! are these 2 second photo's!

you can achieve this same kind of photo without overlaying 3 pics... I've done it with a pinhole camera and about 60 sec of exposure.

an easy way to make it LOOK like 3 exposures is to use a flashlight to expose each pose

What about doing a multiple exposure on the same "frame"? Probably take a bit of equipment to make it work (remote trigger, tight spotlight, tripod, stool, etc.)?

pretty sure thats impossible to get the frame to stay... you're not not advancing film so unless I don't know something about getting digitals to not advance

There's more to photography than just Photoshop. The model was holding a flash in a pitch-black room, and triggered the flash 3 different times to illuminate his face over a 5 second period.

I don't know if I'm going to change it - that's the thing. I can't guarantee that the picture I'll take in the future will be better than this one. What's the problem with submitting early?

I don't know if I'm going to change it - that's the thing. I can't guarantee that the picture I'll take in the future will be better than this one. What's the problem with submitting early?

theres no problem with it but I'm just saying for your confidences sake why don't you wait till you have the best pic you think you can take to submit one instead of always 2nd guessing yourself...

I never put ANYTHING out there unless I know its the best of whats going to come out of me at any certain time.
