Was just thinking, why do people (present) have to give back to the Jews the stolen paintings and arts and stuff the Nazi took from them, because naturally, it was stolen from the war.
But the artwork and such that the 8 superpowers at the time (US, England, France, Germany, Russia, Japan, Portugual or spain I forgot) took from China during the "invasion of the 8 countries" (around when China "leased" Hong Kong to England) were allowed to auction Today (like those animal head statues that were being auctioned off by a French private collector)?

Why aren't Chinese stolen war goods been returned like the Jews'?

The problem is that the further back something happened the harder it is to find who would own the items today. In the case of the holocaust there were some records of who owned the property originally. I'd expect that in China stuff was taken haphazardly, like looting, with no record kept of what came from where.

actually the stuff were raided from the palace, so it belonged to the emperor, so technically it just belongs to the people of china like in museum and stuff
