Race Tech Magazine said at the debut of the Peugeot 908 (back in 2007) that it will win Le Mans in 2009... they have the pace but they tend to f*ck things up and kill their momentum. |

With all of the above comments directed at Audi and Audi products is it any wonder why they have never really given the US any of their juicy creations.
Winning LeMans the number of times they have doesn't come easy, no other manufacturer has done what they did in this form of motorsport and probably no one else ever will. The question of whether Audi will enter F1 is an interesting one and another competitive team would be welcome, especially one with the financial clout of VAG behind them. The kind of budget only Toyota can rival but unlike them Audi and now Porsche (parent company) have both years of experience and success to fall back on. Mark my words, if Audi did venture into F1 then they would not only be very competitive but be up to speed very quickly indeed. |

I am not sure Audi could easily translate Le Mans success to F1. The only factory competition they had in Le Mans was 2d or 3d tier (Bentley, Cadillac, Puegot). That would be very different than competing in a field of Ferrari, Toyota, M-B, BMW, Renault |

If it was a legitimate reason to stay out of a market we'd have no cars in the US at all. Probably not in Ireland or Brittan either. The Italians would only be able to buy Ferrari and even then it would only be allowed within a 2-week window after winning each F1 race. The Swedes would still have access to every car on the planet but they'd still drive like a little old lady. (Disclaimer: I pulled this out of my ass. Any similarity to real life is purely coincidental.) |

Audi is too puss to step into F1, though. They would never last in the realm of the big boys.

He was obviously referring to the times from 2000-2006 (Bentley was just a "different" type of Audi, considering the engineers were speaking German to each other). And when Nissan, Toyota, BMW, and MB left
