CIC iDrive Question with iPod

If I want to change a track with the control nob; sometimes it does not work. I can push down on the nob and I can see the track being selected but it doesn't actually play the track. I can only make the changes from the steering wheel or the track buttons from the center console. In order for me to use the knob, I have to change a playlist and it will go back to normal. It ONLY happens with my iPod, not presents. Any ideas??
