Best Front Row Concert - Or Any Concert?
I am pretty damn stoked to have front row tickets to Fleetwood Mac tonight.
It will be my first front row concert in my life. I'm really excited. Obviously, otherwise I wouldn't make a thread about it! It's a real treat for me because I'm 28 (classic rock fan) and most of the bands I like are either dead or broken up. I never got a chance to see a lot of my favorites. Anyway, what is the best concert you've ever seen? What was your experience like in the front row if you had tickets like that?

Wow! 28 and a Fleetwood Mac fan. I remember buying my first Mac album about the time you were born

i like how every single fucking band that *used* to be somewhat popular 30+ years ago is coming out of the woodwork to do a tour.
but as funny as it is, Boney M (apparently they are still around too) pack stadiums in Russia.

I have read mixed reviews about the Mac concerts. Some say they're kinda fake and doing it for the money. Others say that chemistry is still there, especially between Buckingham and Nicks. (Yes, minus C. McVie.) I did read a quote from Buckingham that said they have no album they're promoting, so they are doing a set-list of THEIR favorites over the years. Which is cool. I already spoiled it for myself and looked up the list. Best concert I've seen to date was Eric Clapton, but then again, he is god to me! Steve, have you seen their shows?

I'm three years your junior and didn't listen to them or really know much about them- just know that Stevie has thick blonde hair and wears hippie clothes. Your threads always make me giggle

I'm not a huge fan, but I went to a Fleetwood Mac concert about a month ago since my firm had the box and there was hence, free booze.
Some of the songs were good, like "go your own way"...but honestly, I was mostly amused by the actions on stage of the lead guy and the lead woman. THe lead guy was doing these little "kick splits" or something, but he wasn't doing it very high, or very wide...just made me think he was too old and was afraid of breaking something. The lead woman on the other hand seemed obsessed with scarves or shawls or something and would use those and then slowly sway back and forth and slowly twist...I'm sure back in the 70's this would have been considered very groovy since the audience was probably tripped out on LSD, but nowadays its just confusing and slightly amusing. Conclusion: That band really shows their age. But they do have some good songs. |

Enjoy the concert ...and yes, they are definitely "Classic Rockers"
Never been much fan of Fleetwood Mac's later work but I liked their early stuff in particular Buckingham Nicks stuff before they joined the band. FYI - I used to live next door to an apartment in Fairfax district in LA where they roomed together a while before making a name for themselves. A bit of LA celeb history .... |
