I haven't seen one code with mine and I have it cranked up to 90% and I have been driving very spiritedly @ 90% for a couple of months.

on 91 octane? what software are you running/build date and do you have any other upgrades?

I've been itching to turn mine up to 75%-ish but don't want to throw codes.

Yes I am running on 91 octane, I also have a mid 2007 build with no software updates, so I am running pre 29.2.
I have checked mine on the BT a couple times and not one code was thrown. Except for my failing fuel pump codes.. but who doesn't have those?

Good to hear. My build date is 11/06 and my service records don't show any software updates (BMW had the HFFP replaced at 30K, so they may have done the software upgrade then).

I know I should just pick up the BT, but I have no experience running PC software on Macs and wouldnt know where to start.

The service report will state that a software upgrade was performed, if nothing of that nature is on there. They did not update your software.

And since your in OC, the new RissRacing shop has a BT tool that they can check for codes for you for a small fee.

if you're running 91 octane, you theoretically should not turn it up past 75%.

On the driver's side by the hood release, there is a little black cover that says OBDII or something like that. Pop that off and you'll uncover a plug (Onboard Diagnostics).

The Bav Tech plugs in there, and into your computer on the other end. It's very straight-forward. Anyone running a BMS tune (or doing anything with their exhaust/downpipes) should have this tool in my opinion.

Think of it as an insurance policy if nothing else.

Congrats on the purchase!

So, if i'm pre 29.2 and I pick up a JB+, can I run at 100% with 93 octane w/ no probs? (theoretically)

Are the dynos correct on Terry's website? They seem really high. 340rwhp and 360rwtq? DAMN!

I'm actually in Santa Barbara, but maybe HP Autowerks can check for codes.

I don't plan on pushing past 75% on 91, but knowing whats going on the ECU would be nice.

Using the BT is very simple. It almost fool proof.
