What brand of gas does Costco supply?

Hi,

I ask this question because I am concerned about the ethanol content in the gas I'm pumping in my car. I asked the Costco gas attendant and he told me that they use different brands depending on who can provide them the best rates. This doesn't sound right to me. Would they really keep switching brands?

Anyone know?

Thanks!

all CA gas has 10% ethanol

costco gas is all bullshit anyways, it's not worth waiting 10 minutes to save 7 cents a gallon

I have rarely had to wait anything more than a minute or two at our local Costco's... I have one relatively close to where I work, so I usually swing by when I get out...

Why do you have to wait?

Yea I've never had a problem of long waits.

So, any idea what brand they use?

It's amazing how people will throw money away elsewhere, but for some reason will go crazy to save a few cents on gas.

Everytime they announce on the radio a rumoured price increase here... there are lineups around the block.

because in gas you end up burning it but rims and other accessories you always see them.

Costco does not refine the gasoline that it sells. It buys finished product and what you buy at one Costco outlet on one specific day may be very different from what you buy fronm the same outlet on a different day.

i go to costco since it's only two minutes away from my house. i usually wait 5 minutes at most. wait wise, i found it really just depends what time you go there at. except for, a year or two ago, costco locked in a really low price, and the wait was very long. didn't bother with that s***. if time doesn't permit, i'm down the expressway at chevron.

I usually go during off-peak times and there is no line. I also take two 5 gallon containers and fill them up as well. They are the cheapest here and right around the corner about a mile.

I go to Sam's Club and there's never a wait. My folks have Costco and I've never waited with them when they are in town and go there...I agree though, I wouldn't wait ten minutes to save a few cents!

You are already there so going somewhere else is wasting more gas.

All the liquor store gas station carries generic gas.....

I guess that's why they sell it for cheaper than the name brand ones like Chevron, Shell, 76, Mobil, Texaco.......

gasoline is a homogeneous product in any given market (i.e. california formulated gasoline). oil/gasoline/refinery companies actually buy gasoline off each other as needed. what differs one brand from the next are the additives and detergents added to the gasoline. one really good example is chevron and the heavy marketing of their additive techron.

i've used costco gas for years. my previous 5er never had a problem. current e90 hasn't had any problems either.

btw... i believe some gas station owners are shady, so it is always possible to get bad gasoline.
