I phone question
Hi Guy,s,
I have just purchased a 16gb I phone. My car is a 2009 LCI 335i M Sport tourer with pro nav, bluetooth and usb. My question is this, will the i phone connect via usb and still connect to bluetooth for the phone? Steve |

'Tisme' has it on his 'bluewater' LCi E90 - might be worth searching for his long thread 'cos I am sure there was mention of it in there. |

6FL is the armrest USb adaptor - 6NF is a bluetooth interface
Not entirely sure what the 6NF does in principle, but when my mate took the order for my car, he knew that I used to use an iphone, and made a point of saying that if I wanted to use the iphone in a cradle in the glovebox as dual function (ie to play music from AND make/receive tel calls) I would need the 6NF option? I only use the iphone now as an mp3 player due to it 's limitations as a decent phone, so I did not bother with the option. |

Quote from the E92 price list for 6NF:
"Bluetooth telephone audio connection Additional connection point for the playback of music from a mobile phone with a built in music player. Consult your BMW dealer for compatible handsets blah (iPhone 3g is)...Only with 633/644 and 6FL". You should have 633 (B'tooth + telematics) for all the ConnectedDrive stuff with the Pro nav and you have 6FL. Listed as £70 but don't know if retrofit is possible. Geoff

I am guessing then that the iphone would be setup in the car as a phone via the armrest cradle, and youl would then access the music off it via bluetooth?

Sounds reasonable if Bluetooth has the capacity to stream the music but looking at a photo of an iPhone in a cradle I'm not sure how the "extra connection' bit would work. Nor do I know if you would get the full iPod functionality of connecting via the Aux/usb - I would like to think you would.
Back to Steve's original question, I think you will have to see if you can retro the 6NF option for dual functionality.

and then hopefully Apple will fix this one in v3.0. You may be okay in the LCI, but since this seems to be an Apple problem then it's likely that you may still be affected.

Phone ONLY works with Bluetooth 6NF
Music ONLY works via aux cable (with no idrive or steering wheel control) or USB with BMW 'Y' cable (which gives full connectivity with idrive/steering wheel) 6FL |

So to get my Iphone to work with the USB option I would need something like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-Data-Cable...3%3A1|294%3A50
