You know, I still can't get over this though. I truly had no idea our technology had advanced so far - atleast for consumers. I can definitely see this in military application, but consumers??

I wonder how much this will cost? o_O hopefully 100-150 range. Even though it is alot of technology, I don't see anyone buying it if it costs too much.

Now before I start, I am not bashing Natal in itself. Natal is a neat little piece of technology, I just want to bring people down to Earth on the topic and hopefully bring to light a few issues I haven’t seen brought up anywhere besides from my fellow TGD staff

Natal >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Wii

Never liked the Wii, it seemed way too childish and gimmicky compared to the other consoles.

Which begs the question, what's the difference this time around? There's nothing here that suggests this gaming experience will be any different. In fact the sorts of things MS showed in that video suggests nothing but a casual/childish gaming experience with the Natal.

That's not to knock the concept, I think it's brilliant and would love to see how it can be implemented into a more hardcore gaming experience but if I don't use motion, face, and tone recognition to fire a gun in real life I don't want to use them in a game.

Just to clarify, this isn't a technology that was developed by Microsoft. It was developed by a firm that Microsoft subsequently bought out to gain the rights to this technology. Now the burden is on MS to implement it in a gaming experience and originality has never been their strong suit.

Another thing is that while it has voice recognition, it doesn't have speech recognition (though that may be mitigated by software further down the road). The Milo concept, as cool as it was, relied on the users tone of voice to predict what the user was saying thus generating a reasonable response, whether it's accurate or not.

Interested to see what happens nonetheless.
