Finally - Powdered Rim Day today ! :) PICS PICS PICS

Ok,

Here we go Love em or hate em ... I'm on the LOVE side for sure. (My Valve Stem Covers are even done as well ) It is Pooooring down rain here, so no clean car pic's until later.

As for "Part II" , I have had paint color matched to my powdered Rims, and will be having the Window Trim done hopefully next week to match the rims ... Should be very unique. The chrome is just to bright all on it's own, and I dont want black as 1,000,000,000 others have it now

Some small details First ....

BMW 18" OEM Style 197's (by BBS)

Rims were gently Sandblasted (Sand, NOT glass bead) , then hand sanded each one, twice over.

I had a custom powder made for myself .. It was a blend of "Solar Rain" , "Black Chrome" & "Chrome Smoke" .... Let's just call it "Kosaic's Own" now (Eat your heart out Paul Newman) It is darker than Gun Metal, and not quite Charcoal .. Unbelievable in person. My BMW Dealer had a crowd around them today after they put my new PS2's on. (without a mark)

Then there is a 95% Gloss, Acrylic Clear powder over top .. So they will be extremely durable over time.

The rims look amazing Dave. Nicely done. Lowering the car is the next thing you need to do

Very nice. Thanks for letting us know the steps you took to get to the final product. How much time approximately did everything take from taking them off to putting them back on?

Again awesome

This could be done in 3 days total ... but pushing it.

You have to take the rims off, have the rubber peeled off (half to a full day) then sandblasting, and sanding (half to full day) then powder coating (3/4 to full day as they need to cure and cool) then rubber back on, and rims back on car (1/2 to full day)

I took 7 days total, as I was busy at worked, so dropped them off and gave him 5 days to do all the work really.

I didnt want to rush anyone, or we all know what would have had happened.

Looks good, and would likely conveniently hide brake dust.

I'm not sure I'm feeling it. Not enough contrast between the car and the wheels.

But the quality sure looks amazing.

Aside from the obvious, needs black window trim to match. It's not flowing the way it is..

I won't get into the cost, but let's just say I was owed a small favour, and I could not have bought 1 aftermarket rim for the total price I paid to have these done.

That, and seems a lot of the aftermarket rims are mimicking the 197's .... These are made by BBS, look great in my opinion.

Also, the dealer just put brand new Pilot Sport PS2's on my rims yesterday. They replaced all of my rubber, for free ...

Trim will match the Rims, not black like everyone else.
