Excited to return to the BMW family..introduction/ suggestion/ question
Hi all,
I am taking delivery of 09 AW 335xi M sport next week. I had a short stint with the Boxster S before traded in my 08 E90 M3. Long story short...they are great cars, but I need a car that has all the following attributes: cargo space for 2 sets of golf clubs, all weather traction, stealth-looking and Tq down low. I don't know of any cars that do all of the above well except 335xi. Two mods that I have in mind are a better suspension system (to reduce the front wheel gap and less body roll) and a throatier exhaust. I am soliciting opinions/ experience working with Budds Oakville installing Dinan parts. In particular, I am interested in the stage 1 suspension package (springs + rear struts only) and the free flowing exhaust to get the ball rolling. Any suggestions are welcome. I don't want coilovers b/c I don't need height adjustability. PS. I still have my set of 230/40/18 snow tires mounted on a set of Sport edition 18x8 wheels from my M3. Do you think it will mount without any mod on the 335xi? All the best, Derek

If I were you, I would lean towards a tune (JB+) before the exhaust if you're looking for performance improvements. You could also retrofit some of the m3 parts, probably at a similar cost or less than the cost of Dinan parts |

I am not looking for performance gain for now. Just want a throatier exhaust note. Not sure I want the stock M3 suspension, even if it is a direct bolt on...it performs well but just not as good compared to say S2000/ Boxster's pinpoint accuracy. Aftermarket coilovers such as KW or H&R, or spring/ strut setup by Dinan provide a more aggressive result. Down the road, if I want more power, I might go for the Dinan S package. But having had the M3 in the past, I feel that any more power than what 335 offers is useless doing street driving. D
