Thanks again Dave. It was good meeting you guys. I'm updating my JB3 asap and putting the DP's on! Once it cools down a bit we should try it again.
maybe next time i'll throw the 100octane in and actually see some gains! LOL. |

what kind of dyno was this one? wow, the M3 is so weak in the torque.... they should have used the v8tt that's in the new 750i's in the M3.....

You too Spence... ya you need the 100 Octane... let's do it again when it cools down some... although they did a nice job keeping it as cool as we could probably expect!
Fikse... Dyno was a DynoJet, and yeah... M3 doesn't have torque... but that's why it has 8,300 RPM's! And to be honest... the 'tq' in the M3 feels MUCH better than the TQ from my previous M5! PS... if they do the V8TT in this M3... SIGN ME UP!

Thanks for posting! Great to see some #'s on independent dyno's. I see that the 100 octane did nothing on the M3, that's what I found too.

You guys are dyno'ing your cars in this 115+ degree heat?? It's 1am here right now and still in the mid-90's were you guys inside?

Yes, it was about 110 Degrees... they had huge swamp coolers, keeping inside temps to low 90's... but Humidity was also ugly that morning, combined with Swamp Coolers, giving 35% Humidity.
Obviously the Dyno's weather station attempts to correct... but there's only so much they can do. It was still a great time... and lets everyone know what our cars are making during our 'cool summers' here in AZ! Dave

the #s overall seemed a bit low (maybe the heat and 91 oct gas? or low reading dyno?). the M3 did well, but guess race gas does nothing at all for them. i forgot who but someone posted on another thread insisting that race gas does wonders for M3 too .. hmm

This shows a few different fuels (octane ratings, oxygen enriched, etc.) and the compression ratio's they support or recommend. On a turbo car timing advances and boost levels create a totally different ball-game with regards to octane. But on N/A, it really comes down to CR (compression ratio) although with a tune you can advance a little timing and maybe gain a little power with higher octane, sometimes. |

At least y'all had fun, even if it was balls hot. I was stuck in a court room in Bisbee all morning with just a ceiling fan

the numbers were a little dissapointing but it at least gives us an idea of what we're running for a good part of the year. the conditions inside the shop were fairly similar to a typical summer night..a little cooler actually. lol. i wish we had 93 out here...the best we can do is throw in some 100 from a few stations around the valley and get a mix somewhere above the unfortunate 91 octane. but when a lot of you have your cars garaged because of the snow...we'll be enjoying our 65 degree sunshine. |
