Second thoughts about space gray?

Having second thoughts of my order for an e92 coupe in Space Gray. I saw it the other day in person and really liked it when I went to test drive it. However, I thought it was a little darker than I was expecting; darker than the current Silver Gray on the e46 and e60, but lighter than Sparkling/Sterling Gray. Seems like the official BMW pics were all taken in bright sunlight making it seem lighter.

I'm really starting to like the Montego Blue. Kinda lighter (so it seems) than Interlagos Blue (my dealer had an M5 in the showroom), but a tad darker than Estoril Blue. However, I still haven't seen this color in person (only pics) as its introduction is being delayed till October.

Anyone want to chime in on what they feel looks better?

As for interior, I chose Black w/ Aluminum trim for the Space Gray, but would probably to come up with something different if I went Montego (possibly gray or creme).

So far, I've been told that Montego has a hint of purple in it. Can anyone verify this?

i think montego blue and le mans blue are the more sporty, youthful colours for the e92 and e90. SG, tiag and space gray are getting too common and becoming boring.

Knowing from experience, the amount of lighting they use and extensive Photoshop work for brochure advertising and print work is incredible.

In my opinion, the only way to get a Space Gray E92 to look like the brochure or ads is if you wax the hell out of it and only drive it on a clear day in the desert just before dusk so the sun reflects in just the right spots!

Otherwise all the 'natural' pictures I have seen all look like a flat gray. Despite what BMW Magazine has said about the Space Gray being the best colour for the car because of it's hi-lights and low-lights.

I have ordered one in Titanium Silver. It's a little light, but will look best in all types of outdoor conditions. And c'mon... who doesn't like silver!

I hear you. I don't really like gray, especially on a dark day it's depressing, even though space gray is the more trendy shade of gray currently. If you live in sunny weather all year round, then go for it. I think titanium silver is so yesterday. As for Montego blue, it's nice, but I think I'll get tired of it quickly, so I would prefer Monaco blue for that reason. I've decided to stick to jet black, the quintiscential (sp?) BMW color, can't go wrong, hides any design imperfection, and it ages better than silver when the car gets old and due for model change.

I really wish I would have gone with the saddle interior.

Looks amazing.

I finally saw space gray on a coupe in person. From the photos I never liked the color as it reminded me too much of unpainted, bare sheet metal -- like the car skipped the paint process. But when I saw the color, I def noticed the metallic quality of the color and my wife and I thought it looked great. I like it slightly better than SG which I think is a little too dark -- looks black too quickly unless you're in real bright light.

Anyway, since I'll be getting a sedan I'm torn between SG and Montego Blue. But if I could get Space Gray, I prob would. Why is the color the hardest choice about the car? I may have to flip a coin when I go order.

When I saw the Space Gray in person, it had not been prepped so it did look pretty drab. I do tend to keep my cars looking good and wash them at least once a week, so maybe I'll be OK.

But, you're right about the photoshopping. Makes it look like a whole different color.

I'm still having a hard time deciding between SG and Titanium, as to which will look better with the red leather. I think either will be stunning really. If it weren't for the red leather, I'd probably be getting the Montego. But, even if you could order it, it would look terrible with red leather, and moreso, my WRX is VERY close to that blue...time for a change!

I saw it yesterday at the dealer and I really liked it. It looks similar to the Titanium Gray on the 5 series (dunno if it is one and the same with a diff. name though?). Sure maybe it'll be a saturated choice, but it's new. I'm sick of silver. If Space Grey was offered for the E90s it would probably have made my top 3 choices.

Blue's nice, no doubt, but it's a pretty big jump from colors that are close to the Space Grey. Your call!

Sir..

I am an passionate and oppionated colour and BMW styling nerd..
Not an expert in any way, but I am right and I don't care who disagrees with me.

Space Grey if it is anything like the grey on e46 will be beautiful on your car.
I have Black sapphire mettalic as the e90 grey and that bloody awful artic
are just hopeless.

Silver, BSM or (though I have not seen it yet) space grey will be the only colours for e9, though I do like the red and and white in sport models too.

It will be fine.

Nope, sedan gets the color too. Montego Blue is a replacement for Mystic Blue. Space Grey is a new color and is e92 specific. Check out the PDF for the sedan/wagon at this thread and it's post #1.

I'm sure I've seen some e90 sedans in the Montego...just can't find them again off hand.

Space grey is a great color, works with any of the interior colors. I would be torn btw space w/grey & grey (Mr. Silver's choice) and space w/ saddle & alu. I just can't get saddle to mesh perfectly with either of the brown wood trims. Might have to go with space, creme beige & poplar.

I ordered Montego, beige, poplar on my E90.

Interlagos blue is my favorite all-time BMW color.

I like space grey but that, along with graphite and titanium, all fall under the "hot now" category of Silver Cars. Stare at any major street and you'll notice an endless parade of silver or silver-ish cars racing by. The E92 may look great in SG/TiAg but I don't spend beaucoup bucks on a sports sedan to look like every other schlub on the 405.

Give me something different, I'm taking Montego Blue or Monaco Blue. Just debating whether I want flash or class.
