All numbers shown are nominated (with a $5000 deposit) and approved by the board. It does not mean you have paid $5000 you can get the one you have nominated. These numbers will go to the public auction with a minimum open price $5000. It is expected the number 'ILOVEYOU' will cost at least 150,000 to beat for. 16th Sep. See you there.

At present, no prefix numbers plus a set of special numbers are NOT transferrable. e.g. BM 33 is not transferrable. You can only use it for yourself unless at the time you bought the number , you would register the number under a company car. Then , you can sell the company + the car to the new owner considering a company is much cheaper than the number! So the new owner will also own your company and your company car with that number. (Of course the entire process is , once he is the owner of the company car, he will 'retain' the number and sell that 'car' back to the special number seller...pretty complicated....). See recent results. Official numbers and Personalized numbers are very different in nature although Official numbers can also be auctioned. The format are two alphabetics prefix followed by 1 to max. 4 numerics ; and plus the no prefix numbers which your grandmother has. Personalized number plates has max. 8 characters with rather complex criteria of selection , which is to be examined by the special board.

yah we have the same here, people buy and sell plate numbers, its getting silly everyday, people pay 1000s for plate numbers, n yah, cost more than the car itself, but not like hong kong!!!!!
the owner with the plate (A.B 1) was a young man with a 330Ci, his father was a big guy in the police force, so he got him that number... later he sold his number for about $90,000, and bought a Merc SL500 lorenzo, got married, went for a nice honey moon and still had some left  i think he did the right thing by selling the number
