09 335d oem security system

I just got a 09 335d with the oem security system, i asked the sales if it has a proximity sensor and he said yes, so I got that option. I couldn't find any info on the proximity sensors that are included with the alarm install but only found mentions of the force entry to doors, hood and trunk.

So do these factory alarms have proximity sensors? (it either beeps or flashes lights when someone gets close) I know the red led flashes under the rear view mirror...

There's an ultrasonic sensor inside the light thingy. Roll down your windows, lock your car, stick your arm in and the alarm should activate.

My 335d does not have the proximity sensors but something will set the alarm off if I leave the sunroof open with the alarm set and the wind blows.

Cool, sounds like its got some sort of motion sensing. I was afraid the alarm I got only detects unauthorized unlocking of doors and trunk.

the motion sensor isnt inside the "clown nose" its located in the box directly behind the moonroof... the clown nose just houses the light to let you know the alarm is set.

If you are talking about a sensor that goes off if someone stands outside next to the car, then no. It's not on my 09. It has an interior motion sensor that detects movement inside, but nothing that detects anything outside the car.

As far as I know it comes with SCM class 3 as a standard. So no proximity.
I found a document on the kind of tests they perform for approval.

You can turn off the ultrasonic sensor if you press the lock button on your keyfob twice. I use this feature because otherwise, nearby trains set off my alarm.

Thanks for the tip, I believe I saw this in the manual the other day.
