Official JB3 1.4 Beta Preview Thread
Well guys, as you know I have tried a bunch of tunes including Dinan Stage, JB3 1.2, Procede 3 Rev 2 Canbus, and finally back to JB3 1.3.
I finally settled with JB3 1.3 not because of price, features, customer service or any other perk. My decision was based solely on performance. You can see my comparison reviews and my most recent dynos with JB3 1.3 here: http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showth...t=jb3+pre+post I thought I was more or less done with the software side of the equation and I added RR Downpipes and a Helix FMIC. Both made the JB3 1.3 even better and I thought I could not be happier. Until now... Since I have a BT tool and what I consider to be a well calibrated butt dyno, I decided to lend a helping hand in the testing of the Beta 1.4 and after a few weeks of testing (and making Terry's life impossible) I believe that Terry has himself a winner. JB3 1.4 has been improved significantly in two ways: First, it is a lot smoother than the previous incarnations. The new lagfix and boost targeting logic does an outstanding job in providing a very smooth, instant, linear and controllable power curve at any range in the RPM band. It is a lot easier to live with all the power. Which brings me to point number two: POWER: I don't know how he is doing it, but Terry has created a tune that gives you instant power down low and massive torque in the middle while actually adding more of the BRUTAL Top End power that Juicebox is known for. It just keeps the power throughtout the entire power band and rockets to the redline. I can honestly say that even on Terrible 90 degree weather, the car feels like the power from our little snails never drops off. This must be the feeling we will get once people actually start upgrading these little Turbos. I had just sort of come to accept that these engines make their top power early in the RPM range and felt that the only way to mitigate this would be by upgrading to bigger Turbos. However, the JB3 1.4 makes you forget about these shortcomings and leads you to believe that you actually have a high revving V8 under the hood because of its torque, smoothness and amazing Top End. It is that good. Congratulations to Terry and the BMS team. I hope they release this version to the public very soon as it is a darn shame that only some of us get to enjoy it. If you have a burner, go get this version right now and post your comments here. |

Nice review! We've come a long way with testing 1.4 and it's def. where it should be right now. R6 plain rocks. I can attest to Kelvin review by saying the 1.4b performs beautifully on my stock coupe running 91-95oct. in 90F with 90% humidity. The power buildup is super strong all the way from bottom to the top and the new "lagfix" algorithm is twice stronger then before.

nice review...I cant wait until I get the jb3 back in my car considering I have been stock for a few months now. Kinda wondering one thing though, you gained about 44whp from the dp's and IC right. Well I will be getting just the catless dp's pretty soon. How much power do you think it will add(anywhere around 30whp)??

Great review..
I just took the 1.4 Rev6 on the road course/track this morning and it performed amazingly under heavy load and heat. Not a single limp and smooth power all the way to redline. I am super impressed with 1.4 and think its almost done. Can't wait to be able to sell it to everybody. I am so impressed with this revision that I have to come up with some kind of promo when its released so we can get the JB3 1.4 into everybody's hands!!! Some pics of the car at the track (a little of topic) Mike |

I have been going nuts for weeks now with the 1.4 beta maps.
1.3 was okay but did not have the grunt of the procede or AA maps. BUT 1.4 is spot on in delivering the power right on the money. I was not into the explanation that the 1.3 maps were smooth and all nice...i was looking for at least ONE of the maps to give the kind of raw power you get with the flashes. But let me hasten to say that 1.3 especially map 8 gave me huge power on the dyno; but i did not FEEL it on the street. Look, 1.4 is simply crazy and addictive. all the new maps in fact. Maps 4 & 6 are just fun and great for daily driving. Ass kicking maps are from 8 upwards. See the revs run wild on map 7...nice stuff.
