Help with my advertising class
Hey guys, if anyone wants to help me out by reading a short paragraph and answering a simple question please PM me! It takes less than a minute.
Please do not discuss this amongst each other until I have all of the information that I need and then I will post saying it's okay to discuss. Thanks in advance.

OK here is what this was about.
I gave 10 people a description of a vehicle without a brand name and asked them how much they think that the product costs. I gave the same description with the brand name, the Pontiac Solstive GXP and asked the same question. I then averaged the 10 prices from each group and compared them. Here are the results: Without brand name: $37,550 With brand name: $28,100 Actual price: $26,995 So the conclusion is that Pontiac doesn't have such great brand equity. Thanks for your help everyone!

Keep in mind that since this is a car forum, many of us likely figured it was a Pontiac Solstice, which may have skewed the results.

btw, i just wanted to let you guys know that this car doesn't come standard with a/c
i'm sure that would change your responses, but the descriptions were supposed to be positive features.

Man I was off by a lot but yeah if I would've known it was a Pontiac my price would've been lower as well. You're right about brand equity and them not being the greatest. I only think of really cheap plastic interiors with Pontiac.

I'm REALLY excited because next term my Sales Management teacher said that he would talk to me about being chosen for a class which is a GM internship. Last year they went to a Chevy dealer and talked with their marketing people and then came up with a campaign for teh Chevy HHR and put o a sponsered car show at my school called "Chevy's Price is Right" and it was based on the game show "The Price is Right" and they had games and stuff, really fun. I am so excited about being in that class and then he said I can put it down as work experience and he would be my reference. He actually picked me to be Vice President of the American Marketing Association at my school that I just joined. I wanted to be president but another person who joined had prior organization experience at another school. I was just kind of upset because I am graduating in 3 years instead of 4 and I'm really focused and the kid who was chosen for president is on his 6th year and like 8th major and doesn't seem like he cares too much about being president. I think honestly that he was chosen because my teacher is sexist, but hey what can I do. He kept telling me that he didn't know if I could be a leader, ugh why because I'm 4'11" and look 12?

Cool, Vice President today. Tomorrow President. In the real world, it's a ton of stress. I've had co-workers go into management and I've watched them age and go gray right before my eyes. When you get into advertising management, all the creativity goes out the door and it's all about the numbers and hitting budget. Other than talent... The big money and job security is in Media Account Executive or as an agency Account Executive. It's almost impossible to get fired. Really! Advertising in a blast to work in. You get to meet so many business owners and fortune 500 company managers. Tons of networking possiblities. You also get to meet movie stars, musicians etc... It's especially fun when you see a campaign or promotion you've created work. Meaning, you've actually influenced someones purchasing decision. It's like MIND CONTROL... I used to work with BMW Western Region, but they've since switched ad agencies. Good luck with your class.
