Price to Certify on Lease End Negotiable?
Lease is up soon: so i have options...
Learned today I qualify for the "pull ahead" program so BMW i could step into a new or a pre-owned car..will have to negotiate the terms and deal with them signing off the current car (windshield might be an issue) I can keep the current car but they quoted me $3000 to certify it? that seems high and i wonder if that varies by dealer or if i just need to push a bit..... I sensed a little negotiation room on the residual? anyone have a comment or experience in the recent market? The bottom line dilemma is; 1. not sure if i should keep the current ride; Certify it. Stay under major warranty but, if I understand, it wont cover the smaller stuff. 2. Lease a new coupe; walk away from the current one: need to come up with the $$$ which i can do...(they wanted 7K down for a $479 a mo 3 yr lease) 3. Buy a CPO M3 with 25,000 miles on it....love it but future gas prices make it look unattractive decisions, decisions |

I'm not sure I'm following here... who in his right mind would put ANY money down, let alone $7000, on a lease?

pfft @ 7k. i'd just get a new lease. Walk in there and be like, "yo, I said YO...LISTEN HERE. ure gonna give me a new coupe for 600 a month with ZERO down and not only are you gonna like it but youre also gonna give me free mats and a foot rub. RESPECT" say it like that verbatim

regarding the gas prices, don't worry... the difference between the M3 and the 335i is not that much... maybe 20-30 dollars a month diff depending on how you drive

Well, I basically did your option #1 earlier this year. I don't know if it's the same now, but I was able to significantly negotiate my residual and have the dealer CPO it. I did have to shop around to a few dealerships in order to get the best deal.
If they are trying to charge you $3000 to certify it, then walk. You can purchase the BMW extended warranty for less. That is way too much. And yes, the extended warranty does not cover all the items that are in the original warranty. Here you go: Items not covered Covered items

Edit: On number 1, as I understand it, you can extend both the warranty and the maint. If you do both, it should still cover the same things. That option is fine if you can work a good deal and you are happy with keeping your car. Option 2 would be fun if you can actually work out a good deal on a lease. If not but option 1 is reasonable, I'd do that. If you can work out a spiffy deal on option 2, do it. Option 3 would be lots of fun, but if you're really worried about gas prices, it probably isn't for you, unless you can get another dd.
