09 335i Bent Crank Shaft!!! Suggestions (few pictures)

Hey guys, got a problem with crankshaft pulley, it was vibrating so i changed the pulley and the piece that screws on to the crankshaft ( changed oil sealer to thought it got damaged with vibration, changing that i through off my timing chain. 700$ to get that realigned,

Anyways after all that it still vibrates, i have two options

Buy a salvaged car hit in back and use that engine

or...

Or drop engine change crank and put back in, crank cost 1600$,, with out labour or gaskets ..

Any suggestions or even heard of anything like this, the car was hit before i got it, lady nailed curb so i had to change bumper and some other stuff like oil pan. warranty void ...stupid lady!

I presume that the part that the pulley mates to wobbles as the engine runs?

Sounds like the end of the crank may be tweaked, no way to really fix it on the cheap, depending on how bad the wobble is, you can live with it for a while and see if it starts to leak at the seal or wear out the belt. You don't necessarily need a new crank, but to fix it you would have to remove the crank and have it checked and trued at a machine shop and hopefully they can true it which will be cheaper than a new one. The issue if they can't true it is that you have it out and a 2 week wait to get a new one if you need one.

maybe im missing the point here ???

if the impact was strong enough to tweak the crank, why is no one concerned the integrity of structure that houses the crank?

the crank journals are load bearing surfaces and if not checked properly, will result unneeded wear and tear on the nerves and the pocket book.

putting a new crank in an out-of-round bearing saddle is asking for trouble. moreover, not chking the lower deck plate after an impact is just not technically sound.

solving your problem starts at ground zero -- especially if the crank has been hit.

if you cant afford to split the engine and chk the mains .. there is no need throwing good money after bad... or at the very least if you drop the crank and plasti-gage all the journals and if one or two are too wide on clearance .. then all youve done is the tear-down .. and not order a new crank that will not solve the problem .. .

^+1

Built engine FTW Seriously, if you have to replace the crank it wouldn't cost much more to replace the pistons and con-rods.
