Bluetooth messed up!!

Hey guys...

I just want to forewarn you that this may be a long read.

I have a Pre-Sept. 2005 build 330i. I brought my car in to the dealer almost 5 weeks ago (this upcoming Thursday) to get my "power window anti-trap function" error fixed. It took the dealership about 3 days to fix it. I went to go pick up the car, and it was fine. I didnt have the error chiming every minute, warning me about my window error. I was satisfied with that fix. However, I noticed that when I synched up my phone to Bluetooth, the phonebook on the navi-screen was all mixed up (not in alphabetical order -- just all scrambled). I brought it back to the dealer the next day, and they said that they need it for a few days to take a look at it and fix it. They call me in about a week later and say that it is fixed. I go to pick up the car and drive off the lot. I try to make a phone call and decide to use the phonebook thru the navi-screen, but it is still scrambled. So, I turn around and bring it back to the dealer. They didn't have an explanation as to why it didnt work. They said it worked with the house phones that they used. Then, they asked if they could keep my phone over the weekend and try to fix the issue. Needless to say, it still has not been fixed. I picked up my phone the day after Labor Day, but my car is still there.

What sort of compensation should I get from this? or ask for? My service advisor told me that after having the car for 2 weeks that they would talk to BMW Financial to seek some sort of credit payment towards my car. It will be 5 weeks this upcoming Thursday!!! This is getting crazy. My service advisor told me last Friday that they will be putting in a new TCU in it, and it should be ready Tuesday. He called me yesterday to tell me that it still isn't working, but they can't really do anything until they get a response from BMW-NA. He told me that I will probably hear back from him on Thursday. I would just like to know what you all think I should/can do about this situation. Or if i can do anything for that matter besides wait it out?

Does the bluetooth work ok with any other phones? Have you seen it work with their 'house' phones?

I brought in 3 of my phones, and all of them still had the same problem. I also found it strange that these same 3 phones worked fine in the 2 different loaners they gave me. I don't know if it had to deal with the loaners being Post-Sept. 2005 builds and non-idrive cars. I did not see it work with the house phones. They claimed that the Motorola SLVR was not on the compatibility list, but I also gave them my RAZR which was on the list. The SLVR and RAZR are the exact same phone and build, except one is a clam phone and the other is not. My friend from Motorola confirmed this. They also claimed that it might be my carrier (T-Mobile) -- they said it worked fine on their house phones that are a different carrier (Cingular). I don't think they even tried or had house phones to test it out with due to the fact that they had "supposedly" fixed it the second time -- they claimed it is still having issues. I just want my car fixed and back to me or some sort of reasonable explanation as to why this is not getting fixed. I would think that after 2 weeks in the shop that they would put this as a high priority to solve. I would definitely think it would be a high priority after being in the shop for 5 weeks. I guess it's just a waiting game for me now, but i would like some compensation.

At least you know you aren't the only one and that BMW is working on a fix (who knows how long that will take, though ). The problem must not be very widespread, though, or I'm sure we'd hear from lots more people.

I picked up my car last night and the bluetooth function is now working properly. My service advisor had told me that they had to replace the TCU, CCC and update the software to ver 22.2. I saw part of the detailed bill and it was estimated at around 4k.

Congratulations on getting the car back.

Did you get any credit for loss of use - or did they give you a loaner?

THANKS!!!!!! They actually did both. They gave me an arctic 325i for a week, a silver 325i for a month, and $700 credited to my account. This was all done at Orland Park BMW.

I have a new problem now!! My voice recognition isn't working and either is the voice for directions on my navi. I didn't really use the cpu voice for the navi, but I did use my voice recognition alot for other controls. This sucks!! I contacted my service advisor, but all he could reply was that he emailed BMWNA with the problem and is waiting for an answer. I don't know if my car will ever work normally. On a side note, I was able to install the rear fog light switch today. I will be putting my tvandnav2go unit back in once all these problems are cleared up. I'm also gonna put my CSLs tonight.

I recently had my car upgrade to the newer version and my BT works fine, that is strange.

Its not exactly the same problem. But i have a similar problem. My phonebook is not entirely visibile through the car. The strange thing is it was working fine before and suggendly this happened...even now i can see some of the contacts but not all..the reason why i said it is not the same problem is that i dont see the scrambled ones...i have a sep'06 325i w/o idrive. do u guys think it is the same problem. btw i also had a software update recently but i had no problem with it for some time and suddenly one day it appeared...
