Angry New IDrive controller will not work on 06-07 E92s

Hey guys,

I've had the latest software update last month in my '06 335i with Professional Nav (widescreen) and was pretty happy with it but just for fun, I thought I might try fitting the newer idrive controller from the '09 e92s.

It looked pretty promising to begin with in that it lit up and all the shortcut buttons for cd, nav etc worked and up,down, left, right, pushing down to select all worked too!

BUT rotating the knob does NOT work! ouch! Leaving me unable to scroll through songs and menus!

Does anyone know why this would be? Is there something that needs to be enabled? OR is it something the '06 model did not come with? I for one cannot figure out why? I've taken a newer model for a test drive and swapped out the controller to see if my one was defective but it worked perfectly.

PLEASE HELP!

Did you ever get this to work? I swapped the controller on my 2007 335D and have the same issue, no scroll working...

Indy garage is going to check tomorrow if it needs to be programmed with Autologic....fingers crossed!
