Dinan Software/Boost Upgrade price increases
Hi all, new to the forum. Have been reading the forum and considering a Dinan Stage 2 upgrade for my '08 E92 coupe. Was looking at the Dinan website Tuesday and the price was $1999. I looked today and it's gone up to $2199.
Hopefully, they local independent will still honor the 'old price'. Related, if I'm at the dealership for an oil change after the Dinan install and there is a BMW update to the ECU program, will I need to have the Dinan upgrade reflashed? Thanks. |

if you are looking for a Flash go with GIAC... Dinan is way too expensive and performs worse.

Its true the price has gone up. Dinan raised the retail price as well as dealer cost on Monday, Oct. 12th
While there are more powerful tunes out there, i was really satisfied with the Dinan stage 2 on my 07 335i and plan on putting the full stage 3 package on the new car. And in reference to your question about reprogramming after a BMW update: depending on which modules are updated will determine whether a Dinan reflash is necessary. (For example: is the DME is reprogrammed by BMW, then the Dinan Software will need to be reprogrammed.) Dinan implements all BMW updates into there flash to stay current. -Scott

Scott,
Was hoping you'd install Dinan stage 2 again and provide a comparison between your previous stage 2 car. Dinan has turned down the boost a bit with the current stage 2, and I'm curious by how much. Too bad the price has gone up in this economy OT-looking forward to your impression of the BMW tune v. Dinan |

IMHO, based on what i have read, I would think 3 times before I would recommend dinan for the n54.
Old booster the worlds fastest n54 flashed his dinan back to stock and loaded up JB3. Based on price vs. performance dinan is not worth it. My 2cents

Thanks Scott. I've read about and considered 'the other' tunes availalbe and I've come to the conclusion to stick with Dinan. Are there costs involved each time I might have to go back to the Dinan authorized dealer for a reprogram or does it vary by dealer?

Hey Maineiac,
I actually am taking my car in on Monday to get Dinan Stage 2 software, plus exhaust and oil cooler. I placed my order last Friday before the price increase though. I called the shop doing the install, and they said they already verified with Dinan that I would get the original pricing, not the new pricing. So in your case, if you already placed an order, I think you're fine. If you haven't placed an order yet, you may be screwed. Probably easy enough to find out though by calling whoever you were going to have do the install.

why did they raise prices and turn down the power?
did they say why or are their customers just shrugging their shoulders and opening their checkbooks wider?

Don't waste the money - get GIAC for a fraction of the price, it's not like when push comes to shove that people have had great luck with the Dinan warranty and have basically had to bring their fight to places like this before they even get complaints acknowledged.
It isn't worth the price, period, either price!

Mine was on my car when I bought it. It has been fun to have the power. I don't need more than the 398hp and 429tq I am putting down now.

I've driven the Vishnu, JB3, and Dinan Stage II. I ended up going with Dinan...
Vishnu was fast but almost as expensive and didn't include a warranty... JB3 as slooooow. Dinan with a LSD is beast |
