The NEW American Interior style
While they have gotten better, has anyone else noticed that all these interiors' center consoles look almost too remarkably similar? Pictures below are from the 2010 Cadillac CTS, 2010 Buick LaCrosse, and 2010 Ford Taurus.

Big improvement and you're right about them looking similar. Also: Way too many buttons.

It's just the evolution of a typical non-driver oriented layout. The swoopy console look is simply the new trend, so I don't think of it as any more than a coincidence.

That Buick looks horrible. A distracting, confusing mess. The Caddy is only slightly better, barely.

I really don't see any similarity in the Ford center console to the others, or in overal interior design between the three of them. The Ford has the proturding "eyebrows" to the dash with the center console sunken between them, while the Buick has a wraparound wood band and the center stack (which has a completely different layout than the Taurus) protrudes above the dash, not sunken into it. And the Caddy is all V angles.
Seriously, they are nowhere near the same as each other.

Other than the vertical vents, I don't see any similarities. They do have a lot of buttons but that is normal right now. of the three I prefer the Taurus but hate the Ford 4 spoke steering wheel.
Thanks, Mike. |

I'm not a lover of any form of I-Drive/MMI etc system. All of them require you to shift your eyes from the road to a display, buttons might look untidy but they are least of a distraction. A perfect example of this done well is the Panamera.

I'm digging them, and they look different enough I wouldn't think parts were cross referenced. The CTS interior is fantastic, especially in person.

There are many new interiors that are button laiden.
I think they all look pretty good and much better than in the past.

The interiors of American cars are definitely getting better. The CTS-V's is pretty nice but I think most car companies are doing the same thing in the center stack. Lexus is that way as well.

I'm going to have to hop over to a Caddy dealership and test them out for myself. They sure do look good though.

Did someone say buttons?
German luxury cars used to be known for having a million small buttons. I should drag up stuff from the '80s and '90s...
