How to fix a dent in the bumper?

Anyway to fix that so its not indented still? This is what it looks like after I popped the dent out. I will be repainting of course, but is there a way to heat treat that and get it back to normal?

heat treat, to get the crease out you'll need to sand it down and then fill with a thin coat of bondo then sand to finish

What will the heat treating do? I'm just confused as to why I would heat treat AND bondo. I think just sanding and bondo would be easier? How much do you think this would run without including the cost of paint?(i'm painting anyway)

When you use bondo, you should apply as thin of a coat as possible. That's why you use use a body hammer and hand anvil to form metal as close to factory as possible before applying putty. Same applies to plastic. Use heat to get the bumper into the closest to factory as possible and use the bondo to make it perfect, not to just fill in deep voids. I use a torch with spreader tip to GENTLY heat up the plastic and then form it between 2 metal forms clamped together and let it cool.

Also, on a plastic bumper you don't want to use standard "bondo" but use flexible body putty. For bumpers and plastic trim I use Evercoat Poly-Flex finishing putty, but I'm sure there are other brands just as good, if not better.

I've used bondo once before on a metal fender. Like i've mentioned in my thread, I'm not a body work guy. So I'll have someone do this for me. So I'll just ask that he does these things? Any estimate on cost on the fixing the dent alone excluding paint?

had my 4runner with the same amount of damage, if not worse, fixed by a dent removal place for $200 but that includes paint matching

khaye1's price estimate sounds about right. I hope you saved over $200 on the used bumper. I think I paid only $275 for the new (aftermarket, not factory) one I bought for the 328xi.
