Unhappy iDrive preferences?

Ok, very new to the car. I have spent a fair amount of time figuring out iDrive. What I'd like to do is tell iDrive to bring up the radio stations on the big screen and a map on the small screen when I start the car. Is there not a preference on how the owner chooses to initiate iDrive? Why does it just default to the home screen? This is like having to change your browsers home page every time you use it. Did I miss something? Help.

Thanks all.

iDrive will always startup in the menu screen, but you are only one control movement away from your preferred setup.

If you have set up the screen as you want it, then when you start the car, you should just need to hold the iDrive control down (not in) for a few seconds once iDrive has booted. This will switch to the last "Entertainment" screen viewed. The assistance window should display what was last in there (ie. your preferred style of map view).

As you appear to be in the US I suppose that you will have one of those disclaimers to dismiss before all of this....

Yes. US. Thanks for the info. I'm getting used to it. I wish it had more PC preferences though.

Thanks again.

Hmm. Not mine. I waited in vain! At the least, I wish the disclaimer would disappear when I put it in reverse so I can see the PDC screen.

Well, if you do end up reversing into something, don't forget to sue BMW for causing an important situational awareness device to be unneccessarily obscured!!!!!!!!!!
