Help me spend some $$ on mods!
Alright well i have about $5,000ish.. (little more) to spend on mods on the car. I am parking it this week and i won't be driving it until next spring so its time to look for some new mods and work on the car over the winter.
The Canadian dollar was almost par with US and now its going down everyday it seems so i want to jump on getting a few goodies while i can save myself some money! The car is an 08' Alpine white E92. List of mods so far: LM reps on Falkens 30% tint all around Aero lip M3 trunk lip spoiler Black kidneys Black lower mesh grilles Black window trim Debadged RD angel eyes Aftermarket Fogs Painted reflectors (On the way already) So far the car looks like this: (Angel eyes not pictured) Now, i really think the car needs a nice drop along with some spacers for a flush look. I don't want to go with springs, i was thinking of going with KW V2 (used $800-$1000) and i was thinking of going with the full OEM mtech kit. I really also like the M3 sides and Long tran just came out with those new ones so I'm wondering if i should go with those instead of OEM mtech. However i think the M3 sides are a bit too aggressive so i'm undecided there. I also was thinking of getting black vinyl on the roof and doing a CF wrap on the interior. As of right now i have no interior mods at all, but not sure if they are really worth it or not? I also just came across this new kit being made: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=319227 Seems interesting but i want something that has near 100% fitment and i don't want to lose value on the car. I was also thinking of going CF quad diffuser with quad tips! I don't have any performance mods right now, i could really use a tune, intake and maybe some scoops! Undecided on what route i should take. For those of you modding.. what mods have been your favourite? Which do you wish you hadn't spent any money on? What's a MUST have mod? I would like to do something new and take the car in the direction that not most people do, but its tough. What route should i take?! Advice is appreciated, Thanks guys!

Mtech?? meh....I like the aero lip better. Personally I'd do some performance mods.
lowering the car should be first priority, KW V2 FTMFW! JB3/Procede next... ...Then I'd get an AE exhaust. The list goes on.

Not sure about exhaust on an Auto.. I forgot about exhaust. Much gains on that AE one or mostly just noise? Definately thinking i should spend at least 1k in some performance mods.

get your Tune JB3/Procede/GIAC flash w/e
exhausts would be nice. I'd probably switch to Mtech if you're not stuck w/ the aero lip, part out the bumpers/aero lip. Then get a VRS vented CF hood after that. Priority I would think would be Tune, intakes,Mtech, exhausts,VRS hood....in that order... |

Tune & drop it, that is a must, then see what you have left.
From there I would look at downpipes and the exhaust. I am currently considering the HKS. I've seen where it has provided the most gains, I'm just not sold on the sound yet. You'll feel like you have a brand new car.

exhaust, jb3, new intercooler, kw coilovers, charge pipe with diverter valve or BOV would be a good idea

The exterior of your car is pure sex. Keep it as it is!
I would start doing some performance mods. A cat back exhaust of your choice, a tune of your choice (JB/Visnu/Etc..), a drop on Kw's, and an intake. Then I would wrap the interior with CF if you have other CF things to match it.

Your 335 has more than enough potential to surpass the M3 in daily driving, for much less than buying a new one. I've driven plenty of M3's and you don't really feel the difference until you're hitting the high RPM band, then that MV8 really starts to shine. What I love about the 335 is the torque that's available almost immediately. For city driving I've found the 335 much more fun. Unless you're planning on tracking the car, or driving above 140mph you're not gaining all that much other than having "M exclusivity" /my opinion

I originally wanted an M3 as i came over from an E46 M3. I love the M exclusivity actually and the suspension is superior over the 335i, although i could just get an LSD. I love the torque, i just prefer the looks of the M and it would be a lot funner on the track that my car currently is.

Coilovers would definitely be a great next mod in the stance and handling category.
If you want to go for a quad exhaust setup, I would do the Meisterschaft rear section with Vorsteiner diffuser. One of the hottest rear ends out there. A set of AR Design 3" downpipes along with a tune if you're looking for more power. |
