Racing seat horror stories?
Are there any incidents of bad accidents or close calls due to racing seat malfunction? Like brackets breaking and the seat falling backwards or anything like that?

Recaro has a $3mil liability policy on all their fixed back shells.

I'm sure Recaro is top quality but it's a little more than I am willing to spend for a DD lol. I just don't like my non ZSP seats so I was looking for more comfortable and supportive seats when I take the occassional fast speed turn or enjoy canyon/mountain cruising. I was looking in the market for say 600-800 for a pair of good comfortable safe sporting/racing/tuning w/e you call it seats.

I think any seat other than oem or bmw certified seats ( if there is such a thing and maybe would include the recaro lineup since their performance seats are from recaro?) would compromise safety since you're changing the very thing BMW designed their safety system around.

6000$ seems a bit much to drop on a pair of seats. Lol I just want some snugger fitting seats as a DD since the regular non zsp aren't that great for canyon driving/mountain driving or spirited city runs.

It doesn't - the OC3 monitoring is different between US and EU seats and will trigger airbag codes.

A buddy had told me about a track event where somebody had rolled his car, to a point where it tumbled a couple of times, and the driver died due to the aftermarket harnesses tearing. The point is that there is risk involved when tampering with the safety equipment, and that if it is not installed properly, you know the rest.
