bmw e90 light swith Help please

hi all
I have a bm 320d 2009, as i was getting out of the car on an occasion my knee banged the rotary light switch (right of steering wheel) and is has pushed back about an inch into the recess behind. The switch still works perfectly however, i did try and pull out to its original position with no joy.

Any idea how to pull the light switch pack out.
thanks

This happens all the fricking time to me when getting in and out. It's definitely able to be retracted into place. Just do what you're doing. Just be delicate and it will pop back into place.

(that sounded weird)

Exclamation

thanks for your quick reply, but how did you pull it innto place, as i am trying really hard and 1-am afraid to break it, 2- cannot get a decent grip, 3- it seems like its solidly in there, i.e. no movement at all.

your help is really appreciated

thanks for your reply Walesy, i just checked the storage compartment and looks like there are 2 star shaped screws, dont have this tool but will buy and try in the morning.
Thanks for that tip will try that.

have you tried doing that or did it pop out by itself?
thanks

Mine popped out with a tug. But at first I looked at it to see if there was any access to behind to push it out. Let us know what happens.

right, managed to get the star shaped screw drivers, undid the trimmings under the steering wheel, also undid the storage compartment but could not get to the back of the lights ..........
After a flash of inspiration, i grabbed some thin neck pliers and used a tea towel between them and the switch and pulled bit by bit, and to my surprise the button , came out and is now to its original state.

Many thanks for everyone's replies and help...
Hope this helps someone in this position.

Mine has been pushed in since I bought it. Can easily be pulled back out if needed but I'm happy with it in.
