BMW PERFORMANCE POWER PACKAGE -- North America
BMW sent dealers in North America the details, parts numbers etc for the PERFORMANCE POWER package yesterday. They indicated availability for dealer install and have prices etc.
More info is available (I didnt write it down) but the parts were less than 2000 and the installation hours quote is 4. |

It does not include the exhaust. It includes the parts discussed in previous threads -- driver's side wheel well radiator, radiator fan, software, etc.
IMO it is an excellent choice for post 3/08 build steptronic and anyone in warm climates. MSD80 is more expensive, and manual tranny doesn't get as much power, so the case is weaker for those applications. It does not have as much power as the piggies or aftermarket flashes, and it is not cheap. But as far as BMW OEM accessories go, it is about as good as anything we have gotten before. Reduced lag, improved driveability, 20+ whp. It will enhance reliability and longevity. No warranty hassles. And it will make your 335 quicker than an S4. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=295774 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=289850 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=320919 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=322458

Yes it's (a lot) more than the competition - but to be fair, if you are looking for warranty and this turns into a DIY... starting to sound a little more viable!
Thanks for the link Doc! |

But if I had a post 03/08 335 this would be a definite mod. Regardless of whether I intended to do further tuning or not.

Wonder if a dealer would just do the software if you did everything else...maybe charge for an hour's worth of labor? Or possibly rape with "tune charge"...

So a radiator is added to the drivers side wheel well? I assume this kit doesnt include an oil cooler if we dont already have one?

So, does this mean we will have to use our msd80 as a core? Or can we keep it and run two ecu/dme? Also, where is the software at? Does it have to be specially ordered for your vin i wouldn't only assume? or is that portion coded at the dealer?

In fact, it's all speculation, but I would be surprised if you will even even be able to buy the whole package online. Since they couldn't deliver the software update in any form you could use to update your own car, unless there was a voucher or the ability to break out the software as a separately billed item why would a local dealer want anything to do with you? I doubt BMW would send you a DVD with the software and let you hand it to any dealer. If all you wanted was the hardware upgrades, maybe. I would imagine it'll be the same way some dealers can offer discounted Dinan software but they have to do it. |

The software is on a CD that is in the kit. It is individualized by VIN and will require an ISTA connection. Just buy from Tischer if dealer does not price match, and pay your 4 hours labor for the job to be done correctly.

Maybe I'm getting tight in my old age (gotta pay for kids college ) but I fail to understand why anyone in their right mind would spend $2K to get 20HP given the other choices.
