raising the bar
it appears that bmw and other car companies are raising the bar with every generation (we keep getting more hp/torque, faster cars for same money), for example the 3-series is getting faster with every generation, i think everyone is very impressed with current 335's 0-60, low end toque, exhaust sound, hp (335 is as fast as previous M3). when we'll this level out? is the next 335 going to be even quicker 0-60?, i understand that with the pressure from the gov regarding fuel economy, this might not necessarily mean that cars will have a bigger engine, but through other technological advancements, will the next generation be quicker 0-60?

As you mention, the government's regulations have a lot to do with the overall performance of cars. The other factor is your pocket. Can they make the next gen car with even more performance that you can afford? We'll see. |

I think you can expect to see smaller engines, bigger turbos, and high-tech features (electric assist motors, etc.) starting to become the "norm" in the high end sports car segment.
