2010 E92 possible HPFP--950 miles!

well, it may be my turn soon. Noticed a slightly longer than normal crank about 3 days ago, everything was fine after that. However, this morning, an extremely long crank...to the point where I let go of the start button, waited a few seconds, then tried again...second time, still a long long crank, but the car did start up... from the posts on here, I'm assuming this is the beginning...btw, my car has 965 miles on it now..unbelievable

Now my question to you guys, I put in my BMS DCI last Friday--6 days ago. Do I take it back out and install factory at this time? or do I wait?.. before I put this in, my dealer said intakes/filters dont usually cause problems. But I'm still worried if they decide to be pricks about it...what do you guys say?

Also please chime in on similar experiences, and if this infact may be HPFP--I did read the sticky on it..but seriously this sucks

I wouldnt put any aftermarket parts until after the breakin period, but intakes should be ok. if you plan on bringing it in, id take it out. Why take the chance, besides its an easy install.

fyi, i switched from Exxon mobile to Chevron octane 93. Weathers been warming up so no more long cranks in the morning, *knock on wood.

i"d remove the intake and go stock - why take a chance? I just had my HPFP replaced ar 6,000 miles yesterday - I took the DCI out and reverted back to stock. It's a bit$h to get it back on (rear clamp).

I got mine on the best I could (could not get it on all the way - like 3/8's from where it should be.

Point being they will remove it anyway and put back on the spec.

I would DEFINATELY put it back to stock for an HPFP replacement. The dealer has to go through a long checklist with BMW NA in order to get the reimbursed for the work so they will have to report everything they find. My last one took 2 days because they had to verify so much with BMW NA. FWIW!

I guess I will put the stock intake back on...but FWIW--I just spoke to my service advisor, and asked if "I were to put an intake on, would it void warranty"..

his response-- "absolutely not, unless we can prove that the intake was what caused the problem, and that is highly unlikely..so you would be fine with installing an intake"

I think I'll just take the safer route, and put the factory back on...its a b**ch to put the rear on though!

and also pretty much from what I explained to him, its a HPFP issue, he said to "come on in, it would take maybe a day or day and a half..and they'd get me into a rental..maybe not a BMW, but we'll try"...

If my car has less than 1k miles on it, and I have to take it back in, they'd BETTER be getting me a BMW loaner, I'm not driving an Enterprise. that's bs.

Sucks, man! But yeah, intake should be stock. An intake under 1000 miles seems a bit early to me, though. Did you even get the chance to learn how to drive the car, test its limits, etc?

I hope you can get the car to "replicate" the issue in front of a tech.

Otherwise they'll promptly ask you to "come back when you can exhibit the issue."

It took me months to finally get an issue to replicate itself with the shop foreman in the car.....annoying as heck of a process to go through-

I'd take it in regardless-

started fine this morning as well..so what do I do?...she'll be parked for the weekend, and my service appt is for 8am monday. If this doesnt happen again, what are the chances of it "replicating" on Monday. I dont want to drive in that rush hour ATL traffic to the dealer, only for them to tell me to come back!!

you should probably take the DCI off and then go to the dealer for inspection

Are signs of HPFP failure also include increased gas consumption?

hmmm... Can HPFP issue being connected to fuel level?

When do you refill the tank? When it's almost empty?

I didnt take my DCI off, but I would offer advice to those asking to do so.

I know people that work at my dealer so they gave me no problems.

Stock intake should only take 10-15 min casually putting everything back on.

I usually fill it up when i have a quarter left in the tank. 90% of the time i drive my car to and from work (approx 10miles each way). i just filled up my car about 4 days ago and im already down to the 75% meter. However, it usually takes me about a full week following the same driving schedule. Anyone notice if this has any correlation to HPFP issues or is it just me?

sorry, i'm new to the e9X world. What is HPFP? High pressure fuel pump?? I'm about to take delivery of my 09 LCI in 3 weeks. It's brand new, hopefully won't have any issues.
