thanks! yeah it was serious ... what i would have loved to see is the setup of all the pics people have submitted, not saying they are bad some a very nice but to me most images look like an off camera flash with maybe an umbrella or bounce which IMO would be the same as a hotshoe and deflector. but i am by no means photography expert just an amateur starting to enjoy photography. I really like this topic tho! it makes you think outside the box

i was looking for more creative efforts of lighting. the viewer should be able to say "damn, how did they light that? where is that light coming from? how the hell?!"

we've all seen photos of the subject lit from the front. that's how we view things, it's boring. it's how we see shit every day. from our our car's headlights, a flashlight to see in the dark. or light from above, like the sun, or a lamp. we've seen it all before.

ever compared a scene captured from eye level versus waist level? same principle.

with this theme, i was trying to change the way you see things before you photograph it. i was hoping for different results overall, but perhaps it was useful to some.

maybe you just needed to be more specific in the theme. Something like, you can only use 1 light source and it has to be altered in some way. That way most of the results would have amplified the effect because it was the ONLY light source for the photo.

Looking back, if I had done my photo in a pitch black room with the diffused light off the wall as my only light, it woulda been a MUCH different Photo.

i appreciate the insight. my last post in the other thread details that very fact. rodi said that he wanted everyone to be included. the only reason that single photo wasn't included is because I thought it was a joke.

not that its that big of a deal but this is the 19th contest and people still can't read the rules... its kinda sad don't you think?

Oh come on. There were 7 entries and there maybe 30 or so of us who even read these contest threads. Do we really have to get bent out of shape about minor infractions in the "rules"?

That's the thing with members that don't frequent the forum. I've noticed a few entries from people that come on once in a while, submit photos, and then leave. I propose that if they don't post a new contest by midnight tomorrow then we should all submit ideas for the next contest. If people like the idea they're sure to submit more photos in the next contest.
