Well...my situation is this:

My friend and I were shopping at an electronics store.
My friend jacked some ipods and bluetooths and didn't
tell me about it untill we got out of the store...
then all of a sudden 5 cop cars rushed at us!! :mad:
so then they apprehended both of us!

SO

I was of course flamming maddd that I got arrested too..but heres the thing
He's 18...and i was 17 at the time being which was 8/20...and i turned 18 on 9/1. so he got screwed over but i didnt. the police said that i would be getting a court case in a few weeks but havn't heard from them since!! so...do u think im offf the hook...and no criminal record is on me? and isn't it true that once your 18 your record gets cleaned?

if anyone could help...that'll be great!

You will be receiving a notice to appear in court shortly What county are you in? Some are very agressive in prosecuting these cases, but if you're a first time offender, you will end up with probation (if you have a good lawyer). Your record can be expunged but you have to appeal to the court for that Next time, hangout with friends that don't steal

choose ur friends more wisely... why do you have ghetto friends when your driving an e90

and some stores will also send you a bill charging you whatever the amount the items are worth, even though they got their stuff back. So if it's like 5 80gb ipods...good luck

P.S. don't they have video-proof that you didn't do anything?

hmm yes, thank you for the responses BUT i know all this already...its been 2 months and they still havn't done anything. BUT my friend on the other hand had to get a lawyer and whatever else...

Me, i just got released. That's it.

um and btw...i didnt steal anything. lol. my friend took all the blame but still i got arrested with him. As for the store, they didn't send any bill because they got all their merchandize back.

no this wasn't at frys. but please get back to the topic of the criminal record part....not talking bout my friend. and yes, he shoulnt have stole and he learned his lesson the hard way. I think he already knows that.

2 months is nothing...it usually takes 3 months to 6 months....

yea but i was 17 at the time. and no, they wouldnt wait 3-6 months when my friend had trial in the following 2-3 weeks.

has anyone gone through a similar experience?

Me, i just got released. That's it.

Were you actually *charged* with anything, or did they just haul you in and cut you loose? Did you have to post bail/bond or anything like that?

You might want to check and see if the arrest is on your record, but you'll never get a court date if you weren't charged with a crime.

For our OP, did the police give you a case number? if they did, call the police office and asked them what is the deal with your case number? Ask them if they dropped your case. No, I am not speaking out from experience, but you could try and find out that way.

and what happened to me was that i was just asked questions...they took down my info. and THATS IT! i was contained in the cop car untill i was released, with no charges at that time. My friend on the otherhand had to spend a night in jail and has to go to court, etc.

so0o...i never got past the process of being out of the cop car lol

lol, its okay my friend learned his lesson...he truly did. but yeaa thanks for all the responses guys! i got other info saying that if i never went to court then no record has been placed. COURT = Record. Just filing a police report is not.

check the public records just google ( where you are living) County Clerk of Courts and go to public records your name should be there and it should have info about the case, but if I was you I will call a lawyer and tell him what happen, I'm not trying to scare you or anything but that will fcuk up your collegue application and also if you have any criminal records you are not eligible for any scholarships & grants !!

ohhh ok so is cool man dude what did you think about the cop car ? I has been in one once, not because I did something worng was went I had my durango my friend and I were offroadring and we got stuck in the middle of no were and I did not have my cellphone and he was out of batt so after we walk for like 2 miles we end up on us27 it was around 7 pm and no body want it to stop ( I mean two guys full of dirt who is going to stop anyways ) so we were lie 20 min and suddenly I saw a cop so we start to wave at him it was for the 1st and only time in my life I was happy to see one so I told him if he could take us back to weston to get my friend jeep. so we were in the back of the cop car the back seat as like a shape so I ask the cop what does the seats are like this and he told me so you can ride comfortable with your hands in the back.

well that was in the old days now I have a bimmer and he have an audi so no more offroading .

well dude I'm glad that u are clean, and watch out with those types of friends man, you don't want to get fcuk up for something that you did not do.
